Our Compositing team is looking for a Compositor, who will be responsible for for integrating all layers and elements, using imagery from multiple sources such as CG renders, digital matte paintings, paint, rotoscoped mattes, set photography, and practical plates. The objective is to produce a final and complete shot for live-action feature films that appears as if it had been captured on camera. The Compositor will report to the Compositing Lead, Compositing Supervisor, and/or VFX Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure shots are delivered to the highest standard and on schedule
    • Establish sequence looks for key visual effects shots
    • Collaborate closely with the team to establish looks and/or follow set style direction
    • Share knowledge, and techniques and mentor fellow compositors to foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment

Minimum Qualifications

    • 5+ years of live-action feature film composting experience
    • Proficiency in Nuke
    • Able to demonstrate an excellent knowledge of compositing workflow: directory structure, file formats, naming conventions, scripts, automation tools, automated dailies
    • Able to demonstrate a solid understanding of light, shadow, color, and shape to solve design and/or effect challenges for key visual effects shots
    • Able to comprehend and troubleshoot complex compositing scripts and escalate issues as needed
    • Possess core knowledge of traditional 2D image manipulation processes such as tracking, color correction, depth of field, retiming, warping, and photographic optical effects
    • Able to demonstrate a general understanding of 3D image creation including matchmoving, camera usage, image plate projections, geo creation, and particle effects

Preferred Qualifications

    • Outstanding organizational, problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills
    • Ability to take direction positively
    • Traditional art background
    • Programming skills within Nuke and/or a VFX Pipeline (TCL, Python, Blink, C++)
