The Associate Director of JavaScript Engineering oversees and ensures the success of advanced JavaScript projects and JavaScript Engineers across projects in the Europe region. This person will serve as the lead for large JavaScript projects for enterprise customers delivering high quality customer service, team leadership, and code. Working in coordination with engineering, accounts, and client delivery leadership, the Associate Director of JavaScript Engineering will work to identify and surface personnel deficiencies and opportunities for engineers to grow their skillsets, serving as a coach and mentor as needed. Additionally, this person will help drive JavaScript best practices, processes, and tooling at 10up.

Responsibilities

    • Leading teams of engineers to architect and build React/JavaScript projects in both client and server-side environments.
    • Supporting sales and project team to estimate and scope work for large JavaScript applications.
    • Coaching and mentoring teammates to boost the teams JavaScript and engineering abilities.
    • Collaborate with other Directors and members of leadership.
    • Writing modular, extensible, and performant modern JavaScript.

Requirements

    • Must be located in a Europe-centric time zone.
    • At least two years in an engineering leadership role managing teams and mentoring other engineers.
    • At least four years experience building scalable web-based JavaScript applications that work with and consume API data.
    • Experience developing high performant web-based applications using ES6+, React, and Node.js.
    • Expert communicator both with clients and team members.
    • Experience architecting complex React applications with a deep understanding of the lower-level concepts behind state and data management, JSX and tooling in general.
    • Experience with React Native.
    • Being collaborative, self-motivated, and an “always-learning” person, excited to create great web experiences.
    • Natural ability to ramp up and provide guidance to lesser experienced team members.
    • Experience using Git.

Nice to have

    • Experience with coding PHP, specifically for WordPress as a platform, including custom post types, taxonomies, and use of WordPress beyond typical “blog” use cases.
    • Experience with WordPress Gutenberg.
    • Experience in the understanding of HTML and CSS including cross-browser compatibility, performance and WCAG accessibility compliance.
    • Remote working experience appreciated.

    • Understanding of ad implementations in a responsive and JavaScript application environment.
