TEAM AND ROLE OVERVIEW
As 15Five wraps up our Series B funding round,  securing our first dedicated finance leader, an operationally-focused CFO, is key to propelling us into our next phase of growth. Our ideal candidate brings functional expertise along with previous experience building out scaleable financial infrastructure and supporting a hyper-growth SaaS company to $50M in revenue and beyond . S/he will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, strategically advising across the organization and implementing innovations and process improvements to foster greater efficiency and scalability. Equally important, we are seeking candidates who authentically live and breath the 15Five values and are inspired by our vision to unlock the potential of the global workforce. This role is based in either our San Francisco, CA headquarters or our office in Raleigh, NC and will report to the CEO.

What You'll Do

    • BUDGETING, PLANNING & REPORTING
    • Lead, monitor and update budgeting across all departments, coaching department leads and ensuring that our spending is generating ROI
    • Partner with CRO and VP of Marketing to establish and track  revenue goals
    • Support CEO and Chief of Staff on fundraising efforts and investor relations
    • Lead the preparation of board packets and slides for board meetings and board budget reviews, including financials and metrics reporting, administrative information, and key strategic topics for discussion

    • CASH MANAGEMENT
    • Lead all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to our general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll and financial reporting
    • Oversee cashflow and working capital timing issues
    • Accurately measure CAC and LTV
    • Engage bank partners to explore non-equity sources of financing
    • Work closely with department heads to maintain spending against budget

    • LEGAL & PEOPLE
    • Partner closely with People & Culture team to evaluate and determine employee benefits, policies and total rewards options, including vetting and outlining ESOP, bonus and sales commission plans
    • Partner closely with VP of People Operations in developing and overseeing company-wide hiring plans, employment terms and global employment compliance
    • Oversee all business insurance plans, ensuring that they meet all company needs and mitigate risk
    • Oversee all legal and compliance documentation including CIIAAs, NDAs, non-solicitation and IP agreements
    • Ensure that all regulatory requirements and reporting are met
    • Negotiate key contracts
    • Lease and office space research, negotiation and signing, including international locations

    • MONITORING BUSINESS PERFORMANCE
    • Review and refine financial model, identifying key performance indicators/metrics to better illustrate 15Five’s financial health
    • Conduct comprehensive analyses to determine which key drivers influence performance the most, informing company OKRs, driving decision making across the company, and generating results
    • Create comprehensive dashboards and reporting packs to track all performance across the organization
    • Provide analysis on metrics to inform resources allocation, contract negotiation and hiring decision making and timing

    • OPERATIONS
    • Evaluate and upgrade existing finance infrastructure, develop financial strategies, budgeting processes, and forecasts to support current and future revenue models
    • Serve as the glue between sales, marketing, product and engineering, implementing process improvements across the organization for operations to run smoothly and with greater efficiency
    • Hire, train, manage and mentor finance and accounting team, helping to better define their roles

    • BY THE (3) MONTH MARK:
    • Complete 15Five’s new-hire onboarding and training for your role, learning about all aspects of our business and how your role supports all departments and the achievement of company goals
    • Spend your first month meeting with senior leadership team members, external finance consultant team and department leads to understand immediate priorities and project transitions
    • Get up to speed on existing accounting and cash management systems and structure to understand what is working and what areas of opportunity exist. Share analysis with the Senior Leadership team and lead any improvement initiatives.
    • Evaluate the quality of our earnings report and ensure that everything is cleaned up from a financial perspective
    • Identify needs for your team and role and build our your OKRs for the quarter and remainder of year. Develop finance and accounting team hiring plan.

    • BY THE  (6) MONTH MARK:
    • Assume complete ownership of  running all financial modeling, budgeting, preparing earnings reports, financial closes and reporting, transitioning away from our external finance consultants for day-to-day needs
    • Lead the implementation of tools, technology, systems and processes to take our finance and accounting operations the next level
    • Deep dive into the operational side of your role, meeting with department leads to contribute strategic perspective and leadership to sales, marketing, product, engineering and people operations

    • BY THE (12) MONTH MARK:
    • Hire, train and effectively lead a fully-staffed, mission and Best-Self-focused finance and accounting team
    • Play a key role in supporting the growth of the business to $50M in ARR

What You'll Bring

    • Genuine passion for 15Five’s mission and vision
    • Operationally-focused finance background with 8+ years finance/ accounting experience
    • Cross-functional collaboration skills and org savvy with demonstrated experience working with all business functions
    • BA in finance, accounting, or business- CPA and/or CMA a plus
    • Demonstrated success growing a SaaS business with experience scaling to $50M+ in ARR
    • Comfort with presenting to and working closely with a board of directors
    • Experience leading investor relations and  fundraising efforts
    • Experience with GAAP compliance, serving as previous audit lead
    • Experience attracting, building and empathetically leading a finance and accounting team of at least 6 people
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous start-up environment
