We all have important information we need to manage, and protecting it should be easy. Over 150,000 businesses and millions of people log in to 1Password to unlock smart, simple access to everything they care about. Our vision is to create a safer, simpler digital future for everyone, and our culture values simplicity, honesty and a human-centric approach to solving problems. Come help us unlock peace of mind so everyone can stay safer online.

We are excited to welcome a Staff Developer to join the Authentication Experience team here at 1Password.

In this critical role, you'll be instrumental in shaping the architecture, evolution, and experience of our authentication systems within 1Password. Your leadership will directly influence our strategic direction, maintaining alignment with our overarching business goals while pioneering advanced authentication technologies and best practices in coding, testing, and deployment. This role specifically will focus on building a roadmap towards elevating the quality of our products under our area of responsibility through strategically aligning our team with the needs of the company.

This role is not just about technical expertise; it's about collaboration, creativity, and the willingness to learn and grow together. You will play a key role in shaping the architecture and evolution of our authentication systems, aligning our business goals with future technologies and relentless improvement.

The Authentication Experience team focuses on the overall experience that surrounds signing in to and unlocking 1Password. This is the first point of entry into the 1Password apps across the board. Our focus is on integrating tightly with our authentication stack to make this a seamless and delightful experience for our customers, which include both business and consumer end users.

Our team supports back-end services written in Go, web-based clients written in TypeScript, and desktop, mobile, and browser extension client apps built around a common Rust core, all of which you will work with at some point.

“The Password Manager group is responsible for everything our users think of as ‘1Password’. We focus on making it easy for every user to integrate 1Password into their daily lives; we fight for the user, solving hard problems in creative ways in an unrelenting pursuit of use for everyone who crosses our virtual threshold.”– Michael Fey, Head of Password Manager Development

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, even if you don't tick every box for the skills we've listed. Diversity of experience and background leads to a stronger team, and we recognize that talent comes in many forms and that skills can be gained in various ways. If you're excited about the role and willing to learn, we still encourage you to apply.
