About the Role:
The Global Director of Total Rewards will create strategies and programs that support a global and diverse workforce of top talent to help achieve 3E’s growth strategies.
In this role you will lead the strategic design, implementation, and administration of the company’s broad-based compensation and total rewards programs, including managing and evolving 3E’s job architecture, base pay, variable incentives, and benefits. You will evaluate, design, propose, implement, and communicate compensation strategy, philosophy, policies and programs that competitively position 3E as an employer of choice. Additionally, you will work closely with functional leaders and global/regional HR colleagues as you execute on implementing best practices and strategies to meet and exceed our goals.
While the preferred location for this role is near our Bethesda, MD office, we welcome applicants based within the Eastern time zone.
What You'll Do
- Strategic Design
- Develop, implement, and lead a comprehensive total rewards strategy that aligns with the company's business goals and ensures competitive and fair compensation practices that support employee attraction and retention of 3E’s globally distributed talent. Align programs to 3E’s business strategies by recommending best-fit solutions, and identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop, drive and deliver annual roadmap, calendar, and project timelines for all key Total Rewards programs, aligning resources and communication planning.
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices in total rewards and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Serve as Total Rewards lead for M&A activity, including all aspects of due diligence.
- Implementation & Administration
- Oversee all aspects of compensation programs, including job architecture, salary structures, bonus plans, long term incentives, recognition programs and other incentive programs.
- Lead successful annual compensation planning & administration including but not limited to timely execution of annual merit, promotion, and bonus cycles, ensuring alignment with performance standards.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and management of third-party vendors for total rewards programs.
- Leverage data analytics to assess compensation effectiveness, identify trends, and provide insights on attraction, retention, and cost control. Present findings to leadership.
- Manage global benefit plan execution for retirement and health and welfare programs including plan design, vendor relationships, annual renewal recommendations, open enrollment, and implementation of new plans, changes to existing plans, and day-to-day administration.
- Proactively seek to improve processes, raising quality and productivity through efficiencies or by implementing best-in-class solutions; makes process changes to existing ways of working to significantly improve results.
- Monitor effectiveness of compensation and benefits policies, guidelines and procedures; recommend plan revisions as well as develop new plans that are market competitive, cost effective and consistent with developing and maintaining a high-performance culture
- Ensure that all compensation & benefits practices adhere to local and regional labor laws, regulations, and governance requirements
- Communication & Collaboration
- Ensure that programs, procedures and processes are effectively communicated company-wide and understood through a variety of education and communication methods.
- Develop simple tools that can be used by recruiters, candidates, and employees to effectively communicate all aspects of a Total Rewards compensation package.
- Partner with CHRO, CEO, and CFO as well as stakeholders across the organization to both advise and anticipate needs.
- Partner with talent acquisition, HR, and finance to align pay ranges for new roles and guide compensation strategies as the company scales.
- Provide thought leadership to the business on compensation issues including new hire packages, performance recognition, incentive plans, retention arrangements and overall compensation structure.
- Partner with CHRO, Regional HR leaders, and Internal Communications teams to effectively communicate the value story of 3E’s compensation, benefits, & perks programs.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Proven Expertise: 10+ years of HR experience, including 5+ years of global exposure (ideally in Europe) across compensation, talent management, HR operations, or as a business partner.
- Performance-driven leadership: A strong track record designing and managing Pay-for-Performance programs in multi-country organizations.
- Strategic Vision: Experience navigating M&A, high-growth scaling, and entity setup while ensuring compliance and competitive positioning.
- Clear Communication: Skilled in creating simple, effective tools to educate employees and managers on total rewards principles.
- Adaptability: Thrives in fast-paced environments, making decisions amid ambiguity and shifting priorities.
- Data-driven Insights: Advanced analytical skills to turn data into actionable recommendations.
- Project excellence: Strong project management, able to lead and deliver multiple cross-functional initiatives.
- Technical skills: Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI for effective communication and presentations.
- Comprehensive knowledge: Deep understanding of Total Rewards best practices, with the ability to seamlessly transition from strategy to execution.
Pay Transparency:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $150,000-$165,000 per year. The final offer will depend on several factors, including the successful candidate’s skills, depth of work experience, location, and relevant licenses/ qualifications. Each offer is determined based on individual strengths and relevant business considerations.
In addition to the base salary, certain roles may qualify for a performance-based incentive and/or equity, with eligibility depending on the position. These rewards are based on a combination of company performance and individual achievements.
