Authoring Specialist for the ERD Authoring team supports all facets of the SDS authoring process for our diverse customer base. In this role, you will use the SAP EHS authoring platform to maintain and review primary data, review and revise generated SDS for global markets. You will collaborate with the rest of the Authoring team to support customer inquiries regarding SDS and related regulatory data. You will also be responsible for continuously improving ERD Authoring processes and knowledge base.

What You Will Do

    • Prepare compliant Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and other regulatory documentation using SAP EHS platform for a number of different customers in the chemical, automotive, and pharmaceutical industry. 
    • Work collaboratively with customers to collect data needed to prepare SDS and clarify regulatory questions. 
    • Determine and maintain chemical composition of products based on information provided by chemical manufacturers and suppliers. 
    • Assess chemical products for hazard-classification (i.e. UN GHS, EU CLP, US OSHA, Canadian WHMIS) 
    • Assess products for marketability in global markets  
    • Assess products for dangerous goods classification 
    • Communicate directly with our ERD Authoring customers as needed, supporting their understanding of our SDS authoring process and addressing issues and questions. 
    • Other duties as assigned. 

What Makes You A Great Fit

    • Minimum Required: 
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training in science related field
    • At least three (3) years prior experience in hazard communication or SDS authoring experience 
    • Good analytical and written communication skills
    • Moderate knowledge of hazard communication and SDS authoring regulations (UN GHS, EU CLP, etc.)
    • Solid knowledge of MS Office
    • Strong teamwork and customer relationship skills.  Good interpersonal and organizational skills
    • Language skills:  Fluency in English to work with global customers

    • Preferred/Desired: 
    • Customer facing role experience 
    • Certification and/or working knowledge of transportation regulations such as ADR, RID, IATA and IMDG 
    • Experience with at least one of the SDS authoring platforms such as SAP EHS, 3E Generate, WERCS, etc.
