Role Overview
500 Southeast Asia has experienced exponential growth, quadrupling its headcount in the past 24 months and doubling in the past 12 months. As part of a larger firm with a global presence, we are seeking a people and performance-driven leader to nurture and direct our team of hard-charging and ambitious professionals across three locations: Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. Our long-term People Vision is to create a 'career home,' where individuals feel safe, celebrated for their authentic selves, and empowered to continue growing while remaining at the forefront of finance and technology innovation in the venture capital landscape.


    • Collaborate with General Partners and key stakeholders to foster a positive, growth-oriented, and productive workplace environment, preserving and evolving the unique culture that 500 has cultivated over the last decade.
    • Serve as both an advisor and a driver of people matters for the General Partners.
    • Proactively source, build talent pools, and recruit exceptional individuals across Southeast Asia through personal networks, employer brand initiatives, and strategic partnerships with organizations and recruitment partners.
    • Take ownership of all aspects of talent management, including hiring, employee development, cross-functional alignment, employee relations, feedback mechanisms, career planning, and HR information systems, ensuring alignment with compensation and performance management practices. 
    • Develop, manage, and implement effective people initiatives, processes, systems, tools, playbooks, solutions, and programs to enhance the effectiveness and success of functions and projects. 
    • Work closely with the Headquarters to leverage HR systems as a key multiplier for the firm to achieve its strategic targets and goals.


    • Minimum of 8 years of prior experience in HR, people management, hiring, and culture development within the tech startup or venture capital industry.
    • Demonstrated experience leading teams of at least three individuals.
    • Passion and ability to articulate philosophies and approaches to building exceptional workplaces.
    • Comfortable managing multiple projects and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment.
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of setting clear guidelines and deadlines.
    • Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills with a nuanced understanding and high standard of proficiency.
