About the Role
As a UX Researcher, you will maintain a workload of UX research projects. In this capacity, you will plan, execute, and analyze a variety of qualitative and quantitative user research projects. The UX research team strives to execute effective, actionable user research projects across the research, design, and development lifecycles. A typical project might include running remote moderated or unmoderated qualitative and quantitative research studies, synthesizing results, and presenting findings for your research projects. 

The right candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, blending research operations and independent research workloads, balancing competing priorities, forming connections with a variety of stakeholders, and managing multiple projects. 

About You

You are driven to uncover and understand user motivations, behaviors, and challenges. You have excellent observational and analytical skills and can draw on a large toolkit of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.

You will have had success collaborating with cross functional teams evangelizing research findings to make insights actionable to drive product strategy and design for both new and existing products. You are process oriented and enthusiastic about growing, refining, and executing effective operations. You believe strong processes create good outcomes, and are driven to establish effective working structures. You are an innovative thinker who thinks that good teams are never static.

What you’ll do at 8x8:

    • Plan and execute user research in an agile development process using both qualitative and quantitative methods and analysis
    • Lead UX research throughout the design and development lifecycle, from early strategic direction through post-release validation
    • Use a wide range of research methods, including ethnography/field research, participatory design, journey mapping, interviews, concept testing, surveys, diary studies, usability studies
    • Collaborate with broader departments including product managers, designers, engineering, documentation and analytics to create research proposals through understanding the business needs, research goals and target customers
    • Identify and prioritize actionable results based on research. Communicate research findings and ensure the insights are translated into actionable direction through presentations, posters, graphics, displays, workshops, wireframes, etc.
    • Apply usability heuristics and knowledge of current design best practices to evaluate new and existing features and offer viable suggestions for improvements
    • You might have opportunities for working on projects requiring low-fidelity prototypes, heuristic reviews, web analytics, data mining, card sorting

What you bring to the team:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the area of Cognitive, Behavioral, Experimental or Industrial Psychology, Human Factors, or Human-Computer Interaction and/or comparable certifications and experience
    • Proficiency with a breadth of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and ability to come up with creative research solutions as needed
    • Experience conducting participant screening, recruitment, and management
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to act as the voice of the user
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
    • Fluency in user-centered design best practices, as well as knowledge of usability principles and techniques
    • Expertise with data analysis and how to meaningfully convey research findings/insights into actionable recommendations and visualizations
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and persuasion skills with cross-functional teams and stakeholders; experience working in a collaborative environment
    • Strong track record of research results impacting product strategy and development
    • A self-starter. Able to work pragmatically in an extremely fast-paced environment
