About This Role 
The Payroll Manager is responsible for the execution and administration of Alumni Ventures Payroll and employee compensation program.  This person will serve as the firm’s subject matter expert for payroll processing and will execute all general accounting and payroll functions for the People & Culture team including the annual total compensation planning process, internal and external market analysis, salary and bonus target ranges. The manager will be a key member of the People & Culture team.  Our ideal candidate will thoroughly enjoy the Payroll function, be detail oriented, and thrive in fast-paced environments. Responsibilities:

    • Process all payroll transactions using our payroll system 
    • Support and work with P&C Operations to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time
    • Serve as point of contact for day to day payroll operations, including resolving employee payroll issues and processing the garnishment of wages 
    • Review payroll tax filings and process payroll-related tax issues
    • Prepare manual checks where necessary
    • Process year-end W-2's and related year-end filings
    • Prepare journal entries to record labor & payroll related accruals; reconcile various payroll related accounts to general ledger; reconcile Paylocity system with general ledger system results of general ledger account reconciliations
    • Prepare 401k contribution summary and employer-match reports and wire transfer paperwork
    • Evaluate existing programs, strategies and philosophies to design scalable and functional national compensation programs
    • Partner with the CPO and executive leadership to define, develop, communicate and execute the compensation philosophy, vision, and strategy
    • Design and manage compensation programs for base salary, variable compensation and long-term incentives.
    • Oversee the review, communication, and implementation of the annual total compensation review
    • Assist & prepare supporting schedules in support of annual audit of 401k plan & Workers’ Compensation Plans by outside accountants
    • Prepare schedules in support of workers compensation, financial statement, 401(K), and tax
    • Stay abreast of changes in federal/state legislation affecting payroll
    • Assist in systems implementations impacting payroll
    • Work with legal counsel to ensure compliance with all governmental regulations related to compensation programs
    • Understand business needs and services requirements

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred
    • Paylocity or ADP experience required, SAP experience also a plus
    • 5-10+ years of progressive payroll experience
    • Attention to detail and accuracy is a must
    • Knowledge and experience with federal, local and multi-state payroll tax laws
    • Must be able to handle sensitive information confidentially
    • Solid understanding of tax-related compensation and fringe benefits compensation issues
