About the Role

The Vice President of People & Culture is responsible for ensuring that the company’s departments and investing teams have the workforce they need to achieve their goals, and that our workforce is appropriately supported in their work.  This role reports to AV’s President/COO and leads a team of 3-4 P&C professionals including three primary functions: recruiting, human resources operations, and the company’s Venture Fellows program. The role will also include oversight of AV’s 401k plan. An ideal candidate has a strong track record of management and organization, as well as a background personally delivering results in recruiting & HR operations.

In addition, the VP of P&C role is responsible for driving the development and delivery of a wide variety of human resources programs and initiatives, related to: payroll & compensation, benefits administration, onboarding and retention initiatives, workforce metrics,HR policies and rollout, systems admin. The VP of P&C would also be a strong business partner to the business and work closely with our leadership team to help support employee relations.  This role will additionally provide strategic guidance to managers on effective handling of employee relations issues, including input for performance management situations, and will oversee the review, communication, and implementation of the annual total compensation review.

Requirements & Experience

    • A strong candidate will have most or all of the following:
    • 10+ years of professional experience in Human Resources or related fields, with a background of individual responsibility for recruiting and HR operations.
    • Prior professional experience in a startup, high-growth business; ideally in a disruptive innovation business model
    • Successful experience working with executive teams, senior leadership, founders, and first-time people managers
    • Fluency in venture capital and startup ecosystems.
    • Fluency with company-sponsored 401k plans.
    • MBA or similar graduate degree preferred but not required
