About This Role 
Alumni Ventures Group is searching for a Staff Accountant who will serve as a key member of the Corporate Finance team, reporting to the Corporate Controller and working closely with the entire Accounting team to execute on various Corporate Finance matters as well as required filings on time with high accuracy.

Success for the Staff Accountant will be achieved by driving the timely execution of the monthly close process, preparing monthly journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, supporting the monthly distribution process, preparing and supporting annual audits, provide support to Treasury and Accounts Payable, as needed, and various other duties and ad hoc projects. 

AV’s Staff Accountant will complete their work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.  Strong organizational and prioritization skills, as well as a sense of urgency in completing assignments, is key.  The Staff Accountant will ensure adherence to the monthly close schedule and will provide exceptional support to AV colleagues and business units throughout AV. This is a full-time position located in AV's Manchester office.

Responsibilities

    • Support month-end close (cash, fixed assets, pre-paids, etc.) and departmental spend process
    • Prepare and process journal entries into NetSuite
    • Prepare and maintain monthly financial reports and support the financial statements preparation
    • Download daily bank activity for investments and operating accounts, reconcile and record bank activity, research, if needed. 
    • Analyze and reconcile bank statements and general ledgers
    • Enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles 
    • Assist with preparation of financial audit and other internal/external financial reporting requirements
    • Maintain familiarity with GAAP standards, FASB standards
    • Support cross training initiatives including documentation of processes
    • Contribute positively to AV's culture and team, role modeling AV values and working consistently toward North Stars 
    • Become the superuser of NetSuite 
    • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred but not required
    • 2-4 years of accounting experience 
    • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively 
    • Adapts quickly in a fast-paced environment
