The Enterprise Data Architect role is pivotal in transforming our firm’s data infrastructure and capabilities, enabling us to leverage data as a strategic asset for informed decision-making and business growth. It will be central to the design and implementation of a new centralized data platform, along with ownership of the firm’s overall data architecture. This hands-on position demands a comprehensive understanding of Azure data services (including SQL and NoSQL databases), and proficiency in designing end-to-end solutions with Power BI. The role is crucial for ensuring data accuracy, effective data management, and aligning the firm’s data architecture with the data strategy and broader business objectives.
Position responsibilities:
- Data Platform Technical Design: Lead the design and development of a new centralized data platform to consolidate, manage, and analyze firm-wide data.
- Data Architecture Ownership: Design, implement, and review scalable and secure data architecture and related processes across the enterprise
- Data Integration and Management: Design and oversee the integration of various data sources into the centralized platform, ensuring efficient data management
- Performance Optimization: Continuously optimize data systems and processes for improved performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Data Governance: Ownership of the processes and systems to establish a mature data governance practice including ownership and improvement of data quality, master data & hierarchy management, business glossary, data dictionary, data catalog, and related items
- Collaboration and Thought Leadership: Collaborate with different teams and departments to understand data needs, providing technical leadership in data-related projects and initiatives.
- Innovative Solutions and Research: Keep abreast of emerging trends in data architecture, introducing innovative solutions to enhance data capabilities.
- Technical Guidance and Mentorship: Mentor and guide the Data Management and other teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in enterprise data architecture, data solutioning, and BI & analytics architecture
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related fields (or equivalent experience)
- Demonstrated experience in analyzing complex business and technical needs to develop enterprise data architecture
- Track record of mapping the right data architecture to the right business use case
- Excellent communication skills to articulate complex data concepts to diverse stakeholders
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Expertise & Experience in:
- Designing, architecting, implementing, and supporting enterprise data architectures using SQL/NoSQL/Lakehouse concepts to align the right architecture with the right use cases
- Data integration, processing and transformation (ETL, ELT, data pipeline orchestration, real-time data processing, ingesting streaming data)
- Experience with Data modeling, optimization & tuning
- Architecting and implementing end-to-end BI/analytics solutions using Power BI
- Data security and data privacy compliance such as role-based security, access control & identity management, auditing and encryption practices
- Master data management (Profisee experience is a plus)
- Data virtualization
- Related Azure services such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, ADF, Purview, etc
- Containerization tools, orchestration, deployment
- Data governance knowledge including:
- Data quality management and monitoring
- Data catalog for data discovery and metadata management
- Implementing data governance policies to maintain data quality and compliance
- Full data lifecycle management
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric is a big plus
- Familiarity with accounting principles and the financial services industry
- Basic AI/ML concepts, algorithms, and fundamentals
- Knowledge and experience with training, validation, and testing datasets
- Certifications in Azure, Power BI, or related areas are desirable
- Project management experience
$135,000 - $175,000 a year
The salary range for this opportunity is stated above. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range.
