Technology – Data Engineering Team /
Arbol seeks an engineering manager for the data engineering team! The data engineering team (not to be confused with the data science team) is responsible for writing ETLs that standardize various climate and weather datasets to be uploaded to our partner platform at dClimate. The team also works closely with dClimate to improve and expand platform-level features that relate to the datasets that we post.

The team consists of 5 early-career, highly motivated engineers who have taken Arbol's data capabilities quite far over the past couple of years. However, as we continue to scale up our operations, it has become clear that the team needs an engineering manager to help prioritize and delegate external requests as they come in and fit them into a longer technical roadmap for the team. The manager will also need to refine the team's testing, development and deployment processes, as well as budget team resources effectively. Any extra time would be spent contributing code directly. As such, the role requires a thorough technical understanding of everything the data team is doing, as well as a thorough business understanding of the external needs and requests coming from outside the the data team.

Must haves:

    • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
    • Excellent programming skills
    • Strong knowledge of best-practice engineering processes

Nice to haves:

    • Experience with data engineering and/or ETLs
    • Interest in climate science
    • Openness to working on blockchain- and finance-adjacent applications

We are based in NYC, but about 70% of the company is fully remote. We offer very good health plans fully covered by the company, as well as stock options. Our general, technology-wide salary bands are as follows.

Team Member: $120k-$140k
Team Lead: $150k-$180k
Technical Director: $170k-$200k
