Deputy Features Director

The deputy features director is a full-time, hybrid position that will include up to 3 days a week in office. Day-to-day responsibilities are assigning, editing and publishing feature articles for Inverse, Mic, and Fatherly.

The deputy director will work on profiles, narrative features, service journalism and essays, bringing in their network of culture/science/tech/lifestyle reporters as well as mentoring staff writers and editors. 

Responsibilities

    • Assign new stories based on news, edit/entertainment calendar
    • Story and line edit drafts, incorporating feedback from other BDG editors
    • Provide feedback on stories assigned/edited by brand-specific editors
    • Manage fact-checking and copyediting processes
    • Draft and collaborate on display and social promotion copy
    • Collaborate on art/photo direction
    • Process invoices and track expenditure

Requirements

    • 3+  years of experience editing features (print or digital)
    • 5+ years of experience in magazine editorial (print or digital)
    • Salary Range: $85,000 - $105,000
