Overview:
The Biden for President campaign is seeking a Deputy Research Director to help lead the campaign’s rapid response research program. This position will be responsible for collaborating with the communications team on short term rapid response efforts as well as developing long term research products in preparation for the general election. This position will also assist the Research Director with management of research associates and oversight of daily research team process and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the flow of incoming research requests and outgoing research products.
- Construct and execute comprehensive research plans.
- Provide rapid response and communications staff with succinct documents that can be used to generate public-facing content.
- Become fluent in the President’s career and time in office to defend his record, prepare for debates, and answer incoming press requests.
- Lead the training, long-term management, and development of research associates.
- Monitor the daily news cycle and breaking news events to identify opportunities to insert the team’s research into the conversation to accomplish the campaign’s strategic goals.
- Work with research associates to edit and refine research and communications products.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- At least two cycles of experience in political research on a campaign or political committee, preferably in a leadership role.
- Deep understanding of politics, political campaigns, and the daily news cycle.
- Previous experience managing at least two researchers.
- Significant experience and ability to train research associates on LexisNexis, campaign finance databases, and other common research tools.
- Ability to manage and track progress on long-term projects and appropriately delegate tasks to team members to complete projects on tight deadlines.
Additional Useful Skills & Qualifications
- Rapid response experience, either in research or communications.
- Candidates with experience in debate prep are a plus.
$95,000 - $120,000 a year
