The Chief of Staff for Communications oversees the day to day operations of the communications team, including managing the approvals of all department products, structure of meetings, and onboarding staff. The Chief of Staff for Communications reports to the Deputy Communications Director and supports the workflow of the Senior Advisor for Communications and Communications Director to ensure the entire team functions efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

    • As a member of the senior communications team, oversee the work of all communications associates, helping to manage their workflow, schedules, and ensuring workload is evenly distributed; 
    • Oversee media monitoring operation, including communications associates and interns;
    • Oversee the drafting and approvals process for all of the department’s internal and external materials, including but not limited to press releases, memos, and advisories;
    • Manage communications team’s meeting cadence, including creation of agendas and tracking action items;
    • Assist the Deputy Communications Director with long term planning and maintenance of the communications calendar;
    • Assisting with hiring and onboarding processes for all new team members;
    • Additional projects as assigned.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

    • 5-7 years minimum of experience in communications or similar field;
    • A team player with experience managing staff and ability to successfully execute on multiple initiatives;
    • Extremely organized with a talent for designing and overseeing processes;
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, creativity, and strong attention to detail;
    • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines, as well as creatively solve problems; 
    • Excellent time management skills; and, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
$95,000 - $120,000 a year
