Members of Best Egg’s Engineering and Enterprise Architecture team partner with key stakeholders, including consumers, marketers, CX researchers, and problem advocates across the enterprise to optimize short- and long-term value streams. The Job:  The Lead Software Engineer Flexible Rent is at the forefront of helping renters pay, stay, and thrive in their homes by offering a way for renters to break their rent payments up to meet their cash flow needs. In this role, you will lead a team of full-stack software engineers in building and improving our user-facing experiences as well our systems for processing Flexible Rent applications. You will work closely with Product and Design to help direct the roadmap and you’ll be responsible for ensuring projects that are ready to be worked by the team are well planned. You will report to the Principal Engineer of Flexible Rent and work as a member of the Flexible Rent Engineering Leadership team where you help set standards and influence technical direction on adjacent teams.

You: You love great user experiences and understand they are created through constant iteration on both the frontend and backend parts of the applications you create. You lead by example and set the pace for the team by contributing high-quality code regularly while encouraging a fun working environment. While coding is your main thing, you also get that the way to make a larger impact is by ensuring the project your team is working on is well-planned so engineers of all levels can drive impact with you. You have strong opinions on technical design based on experience, but/and you understand the best ideas come from a wide set of viewpoints and thus welcome input from your team members and peers.  

Experience

    • 2+ years’ experience as a lead software engineer.
    • 5+ years’ experience as a software engineer
    • High proficiency in JavaScript and modern reactive frontend frameworks. Vue a plus.
    • Proven track record of working with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to understand the scope of a project and break down work for your team to guide the team through execution.
    • Command of Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, and Test Automation constructs and procedures for single-page apps.
    • Experience with cloud providers. AWS Preferred. Serverless/CloudFormation experience is a plus.
    • Experience with application performance instrumentation and analytics techniques.
    • Experience building and optimizing user acquisition funnels is a plus.
    • Experience in the financial services industry is a plus.

$135,000 - $150,000 a year
In addition to semi-monthly salary payments, this position is also eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.  Yearly incentive bonus target 25% of base salary and a 10% Long Term Incentive Plan.
