Butter is looking for a Head of Marketing to lead our marketing team, inclusive of Performance Marketing/Growth, Demand Gen, Brand, Comms, Content, and Product Marketing functions. The Head of Marketing is responsible for developing a strategic, value-driven and scalable marketing organization. The scope of the role is leading the people, strategy, process and technology across all marketing activities from content creation to lead generation to public relations to product campaigns.

You are a collaborative partner, who works cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Customer Success, Product & Engineering on go-to-market strategy and execution.

You thrive in a startup environment that is fast-paced, diverse, and entrepreneurial. As a member of the Revenue Leadership Team, you will be an integral contributor to shaping Butter’s strategy, culture, and success. 


    • Lead a team across core marketing functions: Performance Marketing / Growth, Demand Gen, Brand, Comms, Content, and Product Marketing.
    • Develop the vision and strategy for the marketing team, prioritizing initiatives in line with overall company objectives.
    • Manage day-to-day marketing team operations, including team meetings, 1:1s, customer research, brand development, content creation and campaigns strategy.
    • Recruit, develop and coach a team of marketing professionals to partner with you in executing the marketing activities.
    • Leverage data in making decisions, setting goals, and driving success in the organization, while also embracing qualitative measures of success.
    • Own marketing delivery end to end, set growth goals and create the go-to-market plan(s) to achieve them. 
    • Create marketing campaigns that develop our brand and create customer demand, in collaboration with Sales, Operations, Product & Engineering.

Qualifications and Skills:

    • 7+ years in marketing and marketing functions (brand, content, demand, product).
    • 3+ years in people leadership roles managing high performing teams.
    • Extensive end-to-end marketing experience (research to GTM) in B2B technology / fintech.
    • Track record of creating and managing successful organic and paid digital marketing campaigns; experience building efficient content operations.
    • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
    • Exceptional communications skills: writing, presenting, pitching, negotiating.
    • Skilled in hiring and developing high-caliber marketing professionals.
    • Ability to proactively solicit, listen, and welcome constructive feedback, and adjust quickly. 
    • Able to learn new concepts quickly, and think through complex problems with creativity and pragmatism.
    • Knowledge of payment processing is preferred.

About Butter:

Modern subscription companies accidentally lose up to 4% of their total customer base each year due to churn caused by legitimate payments failing (passive churn). These payments fail either because they are falsely detected as fraud or because of archaic systems in an aging payment ecosystem. 
Butter uses patented machine learning and artificial intelligence to deeply understand the real time state for any given payment and then optimizes for success.
