Carisma Therapeutics is looking for an Associate Scientist or Scientist to join its Research and Discovery team. The team is focused on applying molecular engineering to develop novel macrophage-based therapies with broad applications in cancer and non-oncology. The successful candidate will be able to characterize early-stage cell therapies using variousin vitro techniques. They will alsobe able to advance concurrent projects, working independently and as part of a team.

Reporting to a Senior Scientist, the chosen candidate must be self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented. This position requires a deep understanding of molecular biology andcell culture techniques, along with the ability to apply that knowledge for optimization and troubleshooting. This position is based in Philadelphia, PA.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement in vitro experiments following appropriate laboratory procedures and techniques with minimal supervision
- Work closely with Scientists to perform laboratory processes, including mammalian cell culture, ELISA, virus production, and flow cytometry
- Analyze data, interpret results, and record accurate electronic laboratory notebook
- Prepare and deliver presentations at team meetings
- Troubleshoot/optimize experiments and procedures
- Keep current with advances in the company’s area of research interest
- Flexible to support multiple research projects as the company grows
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- MS/BS degree with 3+ years of experience in industry in bioengineering, immunology, biology, pharmacology, or a related scientific discipline
- Highest moral and ethical integrity
- Experience maintaining and manipulating primary mammalian cells
- Experience running flow cytometry and analyzing data in FlowJo
- Experience with lentiviral production and purification
- Experience with fundamental molecular biology techniques, including qPCR, RNA/DNA isolation/purification, restriction digest/vector construction, ELISA, and western blots
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and act on data generated during experiments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
