At CesiumAstro, we are developers and pioneers of out-of-the-box communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We take pride in our dynamic and cross-functional work environment, which allows us to learn, develop, and engage across our organization. If you are looking for hands-on, interactive, and autonomous work, CesiumAstro is the place for you. We are actively seeking passionate, collaborative, energetic, and forward-thinking individuals to join our team.

We are looking to add an Electronics Engineer II to our Digital and Mixed-Signal Electronics team. If you enjoy working in a startup environment and are passionate about developing leading-edge digital electronics for satellites, spacecraft, and aerospace systems, we would like to hear from you.

At the Engineer II level, you will be tasked with key elements of full-stack hardware development for complex modules. You will have the opportunity to contribute to concept development and progress through detailed schematic design, analysis, PCB layout, simulation, manufacturing support, test, and delivery, doing hands-on work at each phase.

This role focuses on digital and mixed-signal electronics. This includes board-level design of circuits using FPGAs, microcontrollers, and processors, as well as ADCs/DACs and auxiliary circuitry. Applications range from phased array control electronics to software-defined radio module development.

The CesiumAstro hardware team designs complex electronics in the fields of power, digital, and RF hardware. More junior hardware engineers are encouraged to achieve a solid foundation in all these fields. As such, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to get in-depth exposure to a broad range of hardware engineering activities.
Mentorship and growth are key to long-term success. The successful candidate will be surrounded by more experienced engineers in hardware as well as software, FPGAs, RF, mechanical, and other fields. Rapid technical and professional growth is both encouraged and expected.
At a small company and a startup, your work will make direct contributions to the success of the business. The work is challenging and impactful, requiring both breadth and depth of technical knowledge. Our products are made for high-reliability space and airborne applications, so designs require high levels of technical rigor while maintaining the agility of a startup environment.

The successful candidate will also present engineering design review materials to our customers and executive team. As such, excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

    • Proficiency in board-level schematic and layout design using tools such as Altium.
    • Experience bringing up, debugging, and testing new hardware.
    • Hands-on experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and signal generators.
    • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
    • Excellent electrical engineering fundamentals.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

    • Simulation and analysis experience such as power integrity, signal integrity, or worst-case circuit analysis.
    • Experience designing board-level electronics for space or aerospace applications.
    • Advanced university coursework in digital hardware or microcontrollers.
    • Relevant extracurricular involvement such as engineering competition teams.
    • Programming fundamentals (C/C++, Python, etc.).
