We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Calibration Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and building out our comprehensive calibration program, ensuring the availability of replacement hardware through effective coordination with cross-functional sites, and negotiating pricing and terms with vendors. This role is crucial in maintaining the precision, accuracy, and reliability of our equipment and systems, directly impacting our product quality and compliance standards, helping maintain on time production performance.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop, implement, and maintain a calibration program that meets industry standards and regulatory requirements. Schedule and perform calibrations, maintain calibration records, and ensure compliance across all equipment and instruments, minimize production downtime.
    • Work closely with various departments and sites (LA, CO, Austin) to identify needs for replacement hardware. Ensure timely and efficient renting or leasing of necessary equipment to avoid downtime and maintain productivity.
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and service providers. Negotiate pricing and contracts to secure the best possible terms for equipment rental, purchase, and calibration services. Evaluate vendor performance and ensure quality standards are met.
    • Ensure all calibration activities and equipment comply with relevant standards and regulations. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by recommending enhancements to the calibration process.
    • Provide technical support related to calibration and equipment maintenance. Train staff on proper use and maintenance procedures to ensure equipment reliability and accuracy.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all calibration activities, vendor agreements, and equipment status. Prepare and present reports to management on program status, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Place Purchase requisitions and manage purchase order coordination with supply chain.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Associate degree in engineering, science, or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in calibration, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
    • Proven experience managing a calibration program and working with cross-functional teams.
    • Strong negotiation skills and experience working with vendors and negotiating contracts.
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficient in the use of calibration software and databases.
    • Familiarity with quality standards and regulatory requirements related to calibration.
    • Travel may be required to help support cross-functional sites ~ 20%
