About The Role

As the FEA engineer intern, you will work with the engineering team to support the development of FEA models and analyses to help inform the design of the Joule Hive™ Thermal Battery. You will play a role in helping streamline our FEA modeling processes. You will report to the Lead Thermal Modeling Engineer.   

What You’ll Do at ETS

    • Interact with the engineering team and support product development, and pilot testing by modeling and analysis.  
    • Perform FEA/CFD workflows from start to finish which may involve modeling body generation, body alterations targeted for modeling purposes, mesh generation and refinement, setting up a model with proper physics, conducting dependency analyses, solving and reviewing results, comparing results with back of the envelope calculations, post-processing of the results, preparing documentation of the study.  
    • Assist with ongoing FEA/CFD or Finite Volume based studies along with other engineers.  
    • Refine the existing models or codes if necessary.  

What You'll Bring to ETS

    • Current enrollment (or graduation within the last year from) a B.S./M.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering. Note: given the requirements of the role, we will be only selecting interns who have completed their junior year. 
    • A strong technical background in Heat Transfer, fluid dynamics, and structural mechanics.  
    • A basic understanding of FEA/CFD simulation workflow.  
    • Familiarity with 3D drawing software (e.g.SolidWorks). 
    • Experience with scripting in Python, MATLAB, or other relevant coding software/language. 
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail with the ability to also see the big picture.  
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  
    • Willingness to work a hybrid schedule (three days a week in our Medford, MA office and two days a week at home) after onboarding
