How you contribute
The Technical Sales Director will serve as technical champion and subject matter expert for all Emesent solutions. Reporting to VP Sales the incumbent will lead a global team of technical SMEs to ensure all solutions meet current and emerging market/customer requirements.

Here’s what we need

    • Team Management
    • Recruit technical/presales team members.
    • Manage the global technical/presales sales team and inspire exemplary performance and delivery.
    • Identifies performance gaps, manages with coaching, feedback, and staff reassignment or
    • remediation as appropriate. Continually improves staff performance based on agreed upon metrics.
    • Monitors overall technical sales delivery standards, ensuring consistency of customer engagement.
    • Lead and inspire a geographically disperse team of experts to passionately ‘push the limits’ and
    • support the validation of new usecases and opportunities for Emesent’s solutions.

    • Sales Support
    • Lead the team to support business development efforts by promoting and demonstrate Emesent solutions to customers globally.
    • Identify new market opportunities for Emesent solutions.
    • Work with Emesent marketing to develop sales and promotional material and ensure the technical integrity of the company’s solutions are presented correctly and customers/market.
    • Visit trade shows and initiate sales opportunities in conjunction with the business development team.

    • Product Development
    • Work closely with Product Management, collate feedback from customers and help prioritise new product development.
    • Be the SME leader and ensure that the ‘voice of customer’ is elevated within product development.

    • Training
    • Lead the team to deliver customer training and work closely with the customer support/operations teams to set customer training priorities and calendar.
    • Assist in the development of training materials and courses, where necessary/ Assist in the training of customers in the use of the products/solutions.
    • Support the sales teams to identify external training opportunities.

    • Business Planning, Delivery and Business Performance
    • Help drive the delivery of business objectives in line with approved strategy and business plan.
    • Ensure related KPIs are agreed and delivered (for example, demo and/or Proof of Concept targets).

    • Effective People Processes, Approaches and Activities
    • Cascade and demonstrate Emesent’s values, behaviours and approaches.
    • Help develop and maintain Emesent’s culture, including the appropriate approaches to people, delivery, customer experience and technical excellence.
    • Promote and focus on people development and a coaching culture across the business.

How you’ll succeed

    • A geospatial, survey or earth sciences related degree essential with at least 8+ years of experience working for a technology, software or hardware provider.
    • Entrepreneurial spirit / ability to roll up your sleeves and try different things with minimal direction.
    • A demonstrated record of partnering with teams across the organization and influencing to achieve business results across multiple teams who may have different goals.
    • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, schedule trade-offs and champion opportunistic new ideas with technical and non-technical employees.
    • Experience leading and coordinating the work and competences of a team of subject matter experts.
    • Proven project management skills essential – evidence of managing people, and/or projects desirable.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills – ability to present at high level industry events, to large enterprises and to diverse groups of professionals.
    • Flexible, motivated and enthusiastic with a positive attitude.

    • Ability to travel globally as required.
