The role of a Concrete Test Lab Technician encompasses a blend of field and laboratory responsibilities, where the focus is on testing and analyzing concrete to ensure it meets specified standards and requirements. This position requires a hands-on approach to collecting samples, conducting tests for strength and composition, and providing detailed reports on findings. In summary, a concrete test lab technician is responsible for accurate testing, data recording, and maintaining quality standards in concrete materials.
 
You will spend most of your working hours, Monday through Saturday, on the construction site in Snyder, TX. Our systems take 6-24 months to build. Energy Vault covers the travel, food, and other miscellaneous expenses on a project-by-project basis determined by geographic location. The concrete test lab is planned for re-location to the State of Washington; however, the timing of the move is to-be-determined. 

What you will do

    • Prepare test specimens for various concrete tests, including compressive strength and flexural strength.
    • Perform slump tests on fresh concrete at construction sites to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
    • Inspect and test aggregate materials for size, gradation, moisture, and quality to ensure they meet project specifications before mixing.
    • Operate testing equipment, to include Compression and Flexural Testing.
    • Record test data and observations accurately in laboratory notebooks.
    • Conduct daily concrete tests both in the lab and on-site.
    • Monitor and inspect piling installation.
    • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory.
    • Ensure compliance with QA/QC initiative
    • Maintain a logbook of all testing conducted at the plant and on-site.
    • Communicate test results clearly and document them.
    • Ensure compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, and other relevant standards.
    • Perform preventative maintenance on lab equipment.
    • Keep testing equipment calibrated and in good working condition.
    • Liaise with senior staff members and construction teams.
    • Report on test results and research findings.
    • Collaborate and communicate with the site management team and batch plant operation team.
    • Participate in daily project meetings.

What a qualified candidate should possess

    • High School diploma or GED
    • 3 – 5 years of related experience
    • Position requires carrying 40 – 70 lbs. multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs. to waist height.
    • Knowledge of worksite safety.
    • Comfort in fast-paced, rapid-growth environments.
