Your Impact as a Project Procurement Manager (Senior to Principal) - APAC:
This position is responsible for leading the procurement of materials, equipment, services, and negotiating subcontracts for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Projects executed by Energy Vault. The Project Procurement Manager is charged with the efficient and effective material control of the BESS project equipment and services procurement and subcontracts from initial planning and tender phase, through sourcing, expediting, inspection, transport, and receipt at the Project site. The role also will manage supplier project performance and relationships for the assigned Projects. Measures of success are buying equipment and services below budget and delivering on schedule to the required quality and technical specifications. This role is expected to develop competitive sourcing strategies, actively engage suppliers, professionally negotiate purchase orders and subcontracts, and resolve supplier and contractor performance issues on Projects.
This position reports directly to the VP of procurement and is assigned to Project(s) where they will be responsible for all Project supplier relationships to ensure alignment with project strategy and goals. This position challenges technical specifications, commercial practices, operating practices, and business processes with a focus on driving cost-effective solutions for assigned construction Projects. Strong planning, project management, cost control, sourcing, communication, and contract negotiating skills are required.
The position is preferably in Melbourne (Australia), however it could also be remote with up to 20% travel to meetings, supplier meetings and Project sites. The role will be an individual contributor position managing the Procurement process for several Projects simultaneously requiring excellent time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment ideally with some prior construction project experience.
Your Mission:
- This role will be responsible for leading Procurement efforts for complex projects reporting directly into the VP of Procurement with accountability to the Project Manager.
- This role is the single point of contact between the Procurement Team, Sales, Commercial, Application Engineering and Project Execution Teams.
- Supports the Project Team by aligning Procurement team activities and processes with project timelines and requirements.
- Supports the Sales and Commercial team by aligning Procurement team activities and processes with agreed tender response timelines and requirements.
- Develops Project Procurement Strategy aligned with overall Project Execution Strategy.
- Establish and lead a team of procurement professionals in the future
- Compiles and maintains Project Procurement Plan to plan and tracks supplier equipment and material status.
- Initiating RFPs/RFQs, analyzing bids, negotiating for best and final offer, prepare bid tabulations and process approval of bid tabulations before negotiating subcontracts and issuing purchase orders.
- Negotiates supplier contracts with most favorable terms for Energy Vault.
- Manages suppliers’ execution of their respective contracts. Ensures that purchase orders, change orders and supplier notifications and communication follow the requirements as defined in the prime (customer) contract.
- Runs and analyzes material status reports and communicate risks and problem areas to Procurement VP and relevant Project Manager regularly.
- Leads timely resolution of escalated supplier and contractor issues
- Coordinate supply chain and logistics of the equipment needed at the project site.
- Maintains Commercial interface with Suppliers. handle warranty claims, back-charges, and liquidated damages.
- Tracks budget for Procurement scope of the Project, including the equipment/materials costs and services.
- Works with a cross-functional team to lead supplier qualification status and performance during tender and Project execution phases.
- Monitors global market conditions and business drivers to maximize leverage and minimize risk.
Your Background:
- BS in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related and MS preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in large construction and/or renewable energy projects procurement, BESS preferred.
- Strong project management, organization, and planning skills
- Learn / work in multiple systems such as Oracle NetSuite, Material & Document Control (Procore, InEight/Teambinder, Aconex etc.), Scheduling, Databases.
- Flexibility / adaptability to changing priorities, multiple internal customers.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with internal and external customers.
- Self-starter, strong influencing, communication, and facilitative skills.
- Ability to bring teams together to resolve issues and achieve targets and goals.
- Knowledge of strategic sourcing strategies and procurement work processes and solutions.
- Sense of ownership and urgency.
- A passion for carbon neutrality by 2050.
- Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally, up to 20%.
