About the role
We are growing at an incredible pace and are now looking for a senior internal finance hire to join the team. The successful candidate will report to the Finance Director and will own the operation of all accounting and finance streams across the group, as well as support the Finance Director on strategic planning and analysis. As an early joiner into the team, you will have the chance to shape processes and ways of working, to avoid pitfalls you may have experienced elsewhere and maximise the Finance team’s contribution to the company.

Key responsibilities

    • Manage all accounting activities — both internally and with 3rd parties — to maintain the highest standards of integrity, completeness, and accuracy across the group
    • Formulating, implementing, and monitoring compliance within and through accounting policies, covering regulated entities in the UK, Netherlands and Canada
    • Managing the month-end close process and producing monthly management accounts and reports with strict adherence to company timelines
    • Ensuring compliance with relevant statutory, tax, auditing, and external reporting requirements
    • Oversight of finance-related regulatory processes, including safeguarding, capital requirements and supporting the provision of financial information for regulatory projects
    • Recruitment and training of team members (currently one junior team member, in a shared Founders Associate role)
    • Standardise, document and automate processes, keeping a close eye on developing trends in the Finance SaaS space, and leveraging appropriate tools to maximise accuracy and speed of delivery.
    • Work with the Finance Director and exec team in preparing and monitoring performance against forecasts and budgets, providing analysis and strategic insight

What we expect from you

    • Have an interest in startups and ideally have previously worked for one
    • Have a keen or growing interest in the crypto world
    • Have experience working within the finance department of a bank or other regulated financial services organisation, with demonstrable experience of managing a finance team (bonus points for having worked in an electronic money institution)
    • Have held a directorship role in the past (nice to have, not a must)
    • Are a fully qualified accountant with post-qualification experience and statutory reporting knowledge
    • Have prior experience in either audit, financial reporting, financial control or regulatory reporting
    • Thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing, and highly ambiguous work environment where the answer to a question may not be immediately available
    • Experience in finance operations or treasury, developing processes for speedy movement and reconciliation of funds flows
    • Have a bias towards action, and towards automating processes rather than repeating manual steps
    • Are a self-starter, capable of working autonomously with minimal supervision, but are also a team player at heart

What we offer

    • Competitive salary
    • Relocation package if you move from another country to the Netherlands
    • Stock options in a rapidly growing company
    • Remote-friendly company with the option of working in the office or at a coworking space (hybrid working model)
    • Opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a 1st-to-market, fast-growing fintech backed by tier-1 VCs, working with an incredible team of payment experts
    • Empowerment to take ownership at all levels and make high-impact decisions
    • Fun, collaborative and meritocratic culture with zero tolerance for politics
    • Very diverse team (LGBTQIA+ and visible minorities represented by co-founders)
