Who we are

Helsing is a new type of defence and artificial intelligence company. We believe that software - and especially artificial intelligence - will shape our democracies’ future. Our purpose is to attain technology leadership so that democratic societies are free to make sovereign decisions and control their ethical standards.

Our mission is to attract Europe’s best purpose-driven tech talent and apply their capabilities to some of the most complex problems.

We are looking for people with their heart in the right place, who share our conviction that our democratic values are worth protecting, for ourselves and for future generations.

The impact you will make

At Helsing we want to deliver future AI capabilities that make a difference. Especially in defence, deployed AI algorithms must be tested and validated rigorously to enable seamless operation in harsh environments and challenging scenarios.

As Senior AI Simulation Developer, you will develop simulation frameworks and synthetic environments built upon open frameworks that allow us to benchmark and validate our perception AI systems in edge cases and under harsh environmental conditions. Collaboration of multiple decentralised platforms in a multi-domain scenario, where assets from ground, sea, air, and space need to be combined and must be developed and validated under controlled settings. This calls for highly complex and dynamic synthetic environments where complex multi-platform AI systems can be benchmarked in end-to-end mission scenarios.

You will be designing synthetic worlds and implementing APIs that allow AI researchers to train and validate their algorithms in highly realistic settings and serve as a development sandbox for novel ideas. At Helsing, we want to guarantee that our AI systems are validated in the most realistic settings possible and enable real-time and end-to-end HIL testing of our future AI capabilities.

You will work on

    • Development of visually realistic simulation environments for AI evaluation and testing
    • Create tools to test planning and collaborative multi-agent AI algorithms in realistic and controlled settings
    • Development of APIs that allows AI Engineers to train and test developed algorithms
    • Implementation of an end-to-end AI testing platform to quality check AI solutions under harsh conditions and under controlled settings
    • Implementation and creation of photo-realistic and dynamic environments for multi-domain AI use cases
    • Modelling and implementation of different simulated sensors and sensor platforms (Aerial assets, Drones, IR, Radar, …)
    • Creation of frameworks for HIL testing of AI
    • Creation of interactive environments for the training of human operators in collaborative missions with AI systems

Who we are looking for

    • You have experience with development in Unreal Engine 4 and Unity or similar game engines
    • Experience with visual scripting (eg Blueprint, ...) alongside C++/C#
    • You have been working on projects related to AirSim, or similar technology (Blender, …)
    • You are an enthusiast when it comes to the creation of realistic content with game engines and you know the landscape of all prominent software tools, plugins, and resources that bring you there.
    • You love figuring things out, digging deeper and deeper until it finally clicks and you understand how they work
    • Solid programming skills in Python and C/C++

Beneficial Skills

    • Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse Platform
    • Experience with simulations in ROS, Gazebo
    • Knowledge of ML for autonomy and perception
    • Experience with physical systems and simulation

What we offer

    • The chance to work in an innovative organisation focused on protecting our democracies
    • The opportunity to drive impact in a fast-growing company with mission-orientated colleagues
    • A diverse, collaborative, focused team located in the heart of Munich and offices in Berlin and London (with planned expansion in Paris)
    • Flexible working hours and locations
    • Diverse team events and fun in and outside the office
    • Competitive compensation and stock options
