The Opportunity
Reporting to the Grants & Contracts Coordinator, the Enrollment Specialist will play a crucial role in assisting individuals and families with accessing essential programs. This includes guiding them through enrollment in health insurance programs like Covered California, as well as providing comprehensive support for applications to other vital benefit programs. The Enrollment Specialist will be responsible for clearly explaining program details, coverage options, eligibility requirements, and benefits, and accurately inputting client information to determine eligibility for various supports, including tax credits and subsidies. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently to identify client needs and navigate complex systems.
What you will do:
- Assist individuals and families with enrollment in Covered California as well as other benefit programs and relevant community resources
- Provide detailed information on various health insurance plans, coverage options, and benefit programs
- Explain premiums, health coverage benefits, and eligibility for tax credits and subsidies, as well as the benefits and eligibility for other assistance programs
- Input accurate personal and family information into various enrollment and application systems
- Conduct outreach and make outbound calls to prospective enrollees and program participants
- Work in-person at the Hively Fremont office, 5 days a week
- Contribute to the team effort, particularly during Open Enrollment periods and other key program application windows
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with Fremont Family Resource Staff and other organizations located there
- Maintain the Fremont Office Space to ensure a welcoming and organized environment
- Support other programs and initiatives as assigned, contributing to overall client well-being
What you should bring:
- Previous experience in healthcare enrollment, public benefits assistance, or customer service, especially in a navigation or advocacy role
- Ability to articulate complex program terminology (healthcare, public benefits, etc.) in an easy-to-understand manner
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all enrollment processes and documentation
- Genuine interest in assisting individuals and families, demonstrating empathy and patience throughout the enrollment journey
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and identifying opportunities to assist clients
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple client cases and program requirements effectively
- Experience using Microsoft Office software and Google Suite
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
- Basic math skills for calculating premiums, co-pays, and benefit amounts
- Ability to appear for work on time and consistently
- Ability to follow directions and adhere to established work rules and procedures
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, Dari, Pashto, Hindi, or Urdu
- BA/BS with major coursework in public health or related field
$26 - $28 an hour
Salary ranges are based on industry data, and final employment offer will be determined based upon factors including but not limited to an applicant's experience, specialized skills, and internal alignment.
