The Opportunity
We are opening this role to have a dedicated staff member who will help Hively grow its presence and growth in Alameda County with emphasis in Fremont, Newark, Union City and Oakland. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about being involved in the local community, and helping spread awareness of the programs and services that Hively offers to families in Alameda County.  This role will offer interesting opportunities for a great candidate who likes modeling a position that nobody else has had before.  

The Community Engagement Coordinator will report to the VP, Communications and Development.

What you will do:

    • Create, bring and nurture relationships with a variety of stakeholders
    • Lead outreach efforts to increase enrollment of families in Stage 2 subsidy program
    • Create and maintain Hively’s outreach plan in our focus areas
    • Keep track of relationships, stay on top of follow ups, measure the results of different partnerships
    • Represent and speak on behalf of Hively at different events
    • Promote and raise awareness of Hively Programs and Services
    • Be fully embedded in the communities we serve, seeking opportunities to serve our stakeholders and support organizational growth
    • Table at community events as needed
    • Support content marketing creation in collaboration with other members in the Marketing/Communications team and across the organization
    • Collaborate cross functionally with several staff members
    • Own marketing and outreach projects as assigned. Provide updates and receive input at key milestones within each project

What you should bring:

    • Bachelor degree or relevant experience, preferably in Marketing and/or Communications or a related field
    • 2+ years of experience in marketing, communications, sales, and/or community outreach
    • Entrepreneurial spirit.  You are creative, resourceful and a solutions-provider
    • Self-driven and self-sufficient individual contributor who can solve problems and ask for help or collaborate when needed
    • Lots of energy, comfortable speaking in public and making connections at events and other external settings
    • An outstanding capacity to build relationships
    • Willing to experiment, try new ideas out to connect and engage with different audiences
    • Experience working with underserved and underrepresented communities
    • A clear understanding of Alameda County, its diversity and connections in the communities we serve
    • Bilingual in English and at least one of the following languages: Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu or Farsi. Able to write, read and speak both languages fluently

$28 - $32 an hour
Salary ranges are based on industry data, and final employment offer will be determined based upon factors including but not limited to an applicant's experience, specialized skills, and internal alignment.
