Abacus Works is looking for a Security Lead to work on Hyperlane, the first permissionless interoperability layer.

The Hyperlane protocol is pioneering permissionless and modular interoperability. Providing developers with an API to connect between blockchains, Hyperlane is the first tool that allows anyone to add interoperability capabilities to any chain, without having to deal with any gatekeeping! In this role you will:

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive security strategy across all facets of our technology stack.
    • Manage relationships with external auditors and audit firms to ensure robust security practices and address potential risks.
    • Work closely with the engineering teams to ensure security best practices are integrated into the development lifecycle.
    • Respond to security incidents, conducting thorough investigations and implementing resolutions.
    • Educate and train the team on security best practices and create awareness programs to foster a security-first culture.
    • Keep up to date with emerging security threats and advancements, ensuring our systems remain resilient and protected.

For this role you have or are:

    • 5+ years of experience in a security-focused role.
    • Strong understanding of secure coding practices, software development processes, and DevSecOps methodologies.
    • Experience leading security audits and working with external partners
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex security issues to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have:

    • Previous experience working in the crypto or blockchain space, with a focus on protocol security.
    • Hands-on experience with security tools like static/dynamic analysis, penetration testing, and monitoring systems.
    • Knowledge of Layer 1 or Layer 2 protocols and interoperability challenges in decentralized ecosystems.
