Role:
As the DevOps Engineer, you will report directly to our Chief Product Officer, and be a key member of the IT Team. The DevOps Engineer is responsible for managing, using, and controlling all IT controls and tools, supporting the engineering and product team on software development and releases, and managing operating systems on the AWS platform. They also are responsible for maintaining the Company’s cloud-based architecture, including managing cloud computing costs and optimizing for increasing resources needs.
Responsibilities Include:
- Design, automate, deploy, maintain, and optimize cloud-based AWS systems
- Assist engineering leads with branching/merging strategies on GitLab
- Create deployment scripts on lifecycle automation for integration, orchestration, and automation of software releases. Additionally, manage configuration and promotion of CI/CD pipeline
- Optimize and maintain the companies technical disaster recovery plan, including backup restorations and VM redeployment
- Domain Name System (DNS) and integration with on-premises systems
- Manage AWS computing and storage toolkit, including but not limited to CloudWatch, Autoscaling, and GuardDuty
- Design and deploy AWS solutions using AWS services (EC2, S3, Glacier, ELB, RDS, Route 53, etc.)
- Administer SSO both internally and with third party integrations
- Oversee company MDM policy, including software tools utilized for these purposes
- Enforce the continued adoption of the Company’s cloud infrastructure by the engineering team, and enforce its maximized usage
- Act as a relentless idea generator, maintainer, and optimizer in the Company’s efforts to relentlessly improve the robust scalability of its cloud architecture
Strongly Recommended To Have:
- 3+ years as a system administrator supporting enterprise computing platforms and systems
- 3+ years running production systems on AWS
- GitLab experience is preferred, but GitHub, Bitbucket, and similar experience is accepted
- Experience developing complex applications involving web servers, database servers (SQL), and the cloud (AWS specifically) is preferred
- Understanding of Serverless and CloudFormation
- Experience with site monitoring and log monitoring tools
- Knowledge of AWS tools and their use, such as CloudWatch (with autoscaling), as well as developer tools including Docker
- Candidate is able to work independently in a hands-on role, overseeing projects from start to finish with limited consultation from Company technical leads
- Candidate must understand the software development life cycle, agile development, and Cloud-based architectures
- Candidate must fully understand the necessity of documentation and organization to efficiently maintain a robust, secure, and compliance company
- Proven experience working full-time in a remote environment. Willingness to work in a hybrid structure (depending on location)
