Kevala is seeking a business leader to join its Professional and Advisory Services team as the Principal, Energy Efficiency and Building Electrification. The Principal, Energy Efficiency and Building Electrification is responsible for identifying the resources required for the enablement of SaaS based services and coordinating with the teams responsible for delivering on those core responsibilities. This includes gathering and prioritizing service offerings based on the strategic roadmap, having a deep understanding of customer requirements, and aligning the resources needed to bridge the gaps in product maturity.  

Key activities will include

    • Act as steward of the end-to-end project delivery process by developing a set of KPIs and metrics, in collaboration with the executive, sales, product and engineering teams, to provide structure for how Professional and Advisory Services are planned, prioritized and measured, including financial metrics. 
    • Create buy-in for the Professional and Advisory Services vision both internally and with key external partners. 
    • Work collaboratively with the senior leadership team while coordinating with project managers, subject matter experts, software leads, and technical leads.
    • Support business development by providing consulting services to move customers through the sales funnel by leading meaningful customer engagement and translating client needs into internal development requirements and deliverables.
    • Add value to the pre and post sales customer experience through implementation and onboarding, instituting change management, and product customization.
    • Productize more common service offerings and develop the business case for new service offerings on an ongoing basis.  
    • Continue to scale and build processes to improve delivery and coordinate staffing of project teams.
    • Support the professional development of direct reports and other team members.
    • Be an expert with respect to the competition and the direction of energy markets and the energy transition.
    • Participate in ambassadorial activities in support of the mission of the company workshops, presentations, conference presentations, chairing conference sessions, speaking in Regulator and Utility forums, and being interviewed by journalists (including on podcasts). 

What you need to succeed

    • Regarded as a subject matter expert in energy efficiency, distributed energy resources and building electrification (an advanced degree in a relevant course of study is highly desired).
    • Technical management experience in building teams, managing direct reports and fostering career development with highly skilled technical workers.
    • Minimum ten (10) years as a leader providing consulting services and/or delivering software solutions to clients in the utility and regulatory markets.
    • Direct work experience supporting service-based solutions and integration into highly secure client-based and cloud environments.
    • Successful track history as a project manager of large multi-year >$1M engagements overseeing project management with strong focus on risk management, quality and budget control.
    • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
Location
We are headquartered in San Francisco, but we embrace the virtual office and are continuing to grow our team across the United States. This role will be located out of Kevala’s San Francisco, CA headquarters with an ability to work remotely based on the candidate qualifications.
