We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Analytics Engineer to join our Analytics & ML team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in ETL and BI, as well as a passion for data and a desire to drive business insights through data-driven decision-making. We work with some of the most unique datasets you'll see. We are a data mining company at heart and know you will enjoy the challenge of working with and deriving value from a public safety-focused dataset. As a Sr. Analytics Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, testing, deploying, documenting, maintaining and scaling data infrastructure to support the data analytics needs of our organization.
Role
- As a Sr. Analytics Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, testing, deploying, documenting, maintaining and scaling data infrastructure to support the data analytics needs of our organization
- You will create helpful dataset representations and tools that the rest of the organization will utilize to get the answers to their questions
- Collaborate with product, engineering, data science, strategy and client teams to understand our needs and deliver actionable solutions
- Create solutions and recommend tools to allow business users to self-serve and be data-driven while getting reliable, consistent answers
- Develop and implement data pipelines to ingest, transform and store data from a variety of sources
- Design and implement data models to support the needs of data analysts and data scientists
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data needs
- Ensure the reliability, performance and security of the data infrastructure
- Develop and maintain BI dashboards to provide actionable insights to key stakeholders
- Use SQL and other data manipulation languages to extract, transform, and load data
- Ensure data quality and accuracy through testing and debugging
- Set software engineering best practices for analytics throughout the organization
- Build and maintain data warehouses, data lakes and other data storage systems when needed
- Attend to incoming data & analytics support requests from both internal and external teams, and prioritize them
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in data engineering and related fields
- Mentor and train other team members on data engineering topics
What We Value
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field - 5+ years of experience as a data engineer or related role
- Proficient in Python, AWS Data Services(Glue, Kinesis, EKS), SQL, DBT, with working knowledge of Spark, Hadoop or other big-data platforms
- Experience with using Airflow to author, schedule, and monitor our data pipelines
- Experience with at least one modern data stack and data visualization tool like Snowflake, Imply, Domo, Airbyte, Looker, ThoughtSpot, Tableau etc.
- Working experience with batched, streaming data and analytics
- Have the technical skills to apply software engineering best practices such as Version Control and CI/CD - Experience with Stitch, Fivetran or similar data integration platforms
- A good mix of engineering and business exposure
- Self-starter and autonomous in your day to day

Technologies We Use
- Our Analytics and ML team will be running their own tech stack using industry standard languages and tools.
- We are hosted on AWS Cloud and use numerous AWS services.
- Our backend languages primarily consist of Elixir, NodeJS and some Python.
- TypeScript and React are central to our front-end development.
- Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible are leveraged for our Infrastructure deployment and automation.
- Industry-standard build tooling and CI/CD using Jenkins, CodePipeline and GitHub.
- A low-code test automation framework for end-to-end testing.
- A mix of open-source and proprietary technologies that are tailored to the problems at hand.
