MBRDNA is headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, with key areas of Autonomous Driving, Advanced Interaction Design, Digital User Experience, Machine Learning, Customer Research, and Open Innovation. In Farmington Hills, Michigan, the focus is on Powertrain and eDrive technology as well as in Long Beach, where the teams test durability of the latest driver assistant and telematic systems. The Digital Hub in Seattle focusses on developing a cloud architecture and building out the cloud platform for the next generation of connected car services. The Testing and Regulatory Affairs Division in Ann Arbor and the Advanced Vehicle Design in Carlsbad complete the competence center.
Serves as the lead engineer to manage Telematics Projects in regards to test planning, coordination, and execution. This includes coordination with all engineers and team managers of the Digital Vehicle Integration team, Mercedes-Benz AG, its suppliers and other US entities. Ensure all vehicle configurations and test plans are planned and prepared appropriately to meet customer needs and expectations and to ensure that a quality product can be deliveded to North American market customer vehicles.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work together with Digital Vehicle Integration team engineers and managers to schedule and assign appropriate resources based on project needs and resource availability.
- Prepare test plans based on customer needs and with the use of data analytics or other relevant inputs.
- Oversee the preparation of vehicle configurations according to release conformity.
- Lead all defect summary discussions and provide detailed documentation and reporting.
- Manage and track defects resulting from testing events.
- Participate in regular testing and report all defects found with detailed documentation and traces and follow up with retests and defect verification.
- Promptly communicate any technical or quality related issues and project risks.
- Regularly communicate and coordinate with internal and external teams including outside of own area of expertise.
- Support the telematics development and related departments from Mercedes-Benz AG, as well as all departments within MBRDNA as the subject matter expert.
- Regularly take initiative to identify, communicate, and execute high-impact changes or improvements.
- Identify and advocate for US market relevant product improvements in communication with internal, Mercedes-Benz AG and other market partners.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and market trends to benefit personal portfolio and project implementation.
- Travel time is required: Approximately 1/4 of test drives will be executed out of the state of California.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field of study.
- Experience in the development or validation of embedded systems in the automotive or consumer electronics industries, or similar experience.
- Ability to recognize and manage risks in telematics development and use this information to prioritize tasks including outside of own area of expertise.
- Proficiency managing test plans, determining testing location, and ensuring test events are executed successfully.
- Expertise running the entire testing schedule, including project management related tasks and all supporting documentation leading up to and resulting from testing events.
- Excellent communication skills including on technical subjects.
- Structured and organized approach.
- Frequent use of speech, vision, hearing, use of hands for computer use and presentations. Frequent sitting, standing and reaching with hands.
- Valid CA Drivers License.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Automotive OEM or Tier1 supplier work experience.
- Experience with embedded software and automotive solutions.
- Understanding of the automotive development waterfall process for hardware and software development.
- Data management and representation skills.
- Strong technical knowledge of Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, job-related education, skills, and experience, geographic location, and market conditions. The current salary range for this position is as follows and may be modified in the future: $109,100 - $136,300.
