The Digital Hub in Seattle focusses on developing a cloud architecture and building out the cloud platform for the next generation of connected car services. The Testing and Regulatory Affairs Division in Ann Arbor and the Advanced Vehicle Design in Carlsbad complete the competence center.

Coordinate and manage the Electronic Systems Testing team in the areas of Project Management, Defect Management and Reporting services for:

• New Telematics Systems generations for USA and Canada
• Mmc Features and Services
• EE System Integration focused on interior systems, telematics, and ADAS systems integration

Support our RD Sponsors in the development and release of hardware and software for:
• Battery Electric and Plug-in EV charging systems interoperability to the EV charging infrastructure
• Mercedes Me Charge Account validation testing for the USA and Canada markets

Job Responsibilities:

    • Manage, instruct, and supervise Project Managers and other team members to ensure the project schedules and their quality gates are achieved with on-time delivery with high maturity levels. This includes coordinating and supervising deliverables of contractors and/or interns as required.
    • Build and maintain close communication with all sponsor teams at RD/A, RD/V, and RD/E to ensure deliverables are acceptable and to solicit feedback.
    • Assure project budgets are monitored and maintained for all projects related to the PMO office.
    • Ensure the planning, coordination and execution of all activities led by the Telematics Project Managers is completed on-time, with high quality, meeting our RD sponsors expectations. Leverage the resources of the PMO and other EST teams to maximize capacity utilization of engineers and testing environments to achieve these goals. Ensure Project managers follow consistent processes to quantify, report, and drive resolution to all urgent and high priority defects found during testing activities to resolution. Lead the PMO team to continuously improve the testing processes via Lesson Learned methodologies to drive improvements in quality, reduce costs, and improve efficiencies.
    • Ensure E/E Integration Testing requirements for RD-Daimler carline departments are fulfilled, including test Drive events, defect reporting, KPIs achieved, and final release reports. Consolidated support for full-vehicle, release conforming SWT flash capability to all MBRDNA teams and all applicable car lines and sponsors at RD, AMG, and Vans.
    • Sustain and grow the USA and Canada Inter-operability charging testing. Ensure the team maintains and executes a comprehensive test catalog, on time and within budget. Motivate the team to expand their deep technical knowledge of the charging process with root cause analysis of faults that maximizes value for our Sponsor department. Maintain high awareness of the EV charging infrastructure in the USA to assure our testing efforts are anticipating the rapid changes expected in this area.
    • Be the point of contact for MMC RD sponsor colleagues and assure project coordination for MMC is completed on schedule following MDDM testing methodologies. Ensure MMC defect management keeps close visibility and tracking of open issues, dispositions, and Governance.
    • Identify and document PMO best practices in an EST common repository.
    • Support personal development and bi-annual review of each team member, which ensures the enhancement of their personal/career goals. Continuous development of team members (LEAD process) as well as following related company policies and guidelines.
    • Follow industry trends in EE, infotainment, connected services, and vehicle networking technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s in electrical engineering, computer science engineering, mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
    • Long term experience as a supervisor/manager in the E/E, telematics, or software application fields, including the exercise of a wide latitude of discretion to determine objectives and approaches to critical assignments where high levels of ambiguity typically exist.
    • Ability to work in a team as well as to organize, develop, and lead a team. Strong technical knowledge of electronic systems to mentor subordinates.
    • Ability to organize workflows, direct tasks, as well as document processes, milestones and resolve problems. Ability to work in agile environments.
    • Ability to conceptualize, plan, implement, and develop projects to their successful market introduction.
    • Ability to integrate information from a variety of sources with varied levels of complexity where disparate technologies exist.
    • Fluent in English (spoken and written). German language (spoken and written) would be a plus.
    • Strong understanding and expertise in leadership and team management. Leadership and soft skills to address daily challenges as they arise. A progressive management style emphasizing openness, collaboration, and shared goals.
    • Extraordinary oral and written communication skills. Problem solving and critical thinking skills. Outstanding collaboration skills with a proven ability to work cross teams in to meet shared goals. Exemplary presentation and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to travel internationally and domestically for at least 20% of the time.

    • Experience in agile collaboration models (e.g. Scrum) and demonstrated ability to effectively setup and steer distributed developments including necessary integration and release steps.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous Automotive OEM or Tier1 supplier work experience.
    • Experience with embedded software and automotive solutions.
    • Experience leading/managing teams, developing strategies, execution of projects.
    • German language skills are a plus.
