In Farmington Hills, Michigan, the focus is on Powertrain and eDrive technology as well as in Long Beach, where the teams test durability of the latest driver assistant and telematic systems. The Digital Hub in Seattle focusses on developing a cloud architecture and building out the cloud platform for the next generation of connected car services. The Testing and Regulatory Affairs Division in Ann Arbor and the Advanced Vehicle Design in Carlsbad complete the competence center.

We seek a DEI change agent to help us refine and implement a newly created plan to transform the MBRDNA culture. The DEI Transformation Manager will be part of the Office of the CEO, reporting directly to the CEO, and liaise with MBRDNA teams and employees, and external partners.

This is a hybrid position that can be based in Farmington Hills, MI; Sunnyvale, CA; or Long Beach, CA.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership team to develop processes and programs that integrate DEI principles and the MBRDNA values in systems and processes across the MBRDNA organization.
    • Create and implement diversity training programs for leaders and employees to help them understand diversity issues and create a more inclusive workplace culture.
    • Educate the organization and its leaders of the latest DEI trends, policies, and legislation (e.g., generational sentiment, terminology, ESG requirements).
    • Assist Executive Leadership and the People Team in conceptualizing metrics and dashboards that enable MBRDNA to reliably measure KPIs for desired DEI related metrics.
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and analysis of DEI engagement surveys to track progress and inform the development of solutions to meet the organization’s needs.
    • Collaborate with departments across the organization including Engineering, People, Communication, and Legal to promote and implement DEI programs and initiatives.
    • Assess the organization’s culture and conduct audits of the organization’s current policies to determine how well it promotes diversity, equity and inclusion and identify DEI-related challenges and opportunities that may impact the company’s success and provide recommendations on how to address.
    • Strengthen and grow MBRDNA’s Employee Resource Groups and support them in managing and developing programs and events to meet their group’s needs.
    • Partner with current DEI support and strategy champions within MBRDNA and at other Mercedes-Benz entities, and the MBRDNA People Team.
    • Liaise with outside DEI champions and resources.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Minimum five (5) years of experience working in diversity, equity and inclusion, with a focus on organizational change; knowledge and/or prior experience with strategic initiative program management, project management, and data analytics and reporting
    • Proven track record of programming and project management expertise; strong written and oral communication skills; data analytics, visualization, and reporting competencies; and high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Demonstrates organizational agility and ability to work effectively, collaborate and influence across a multi-location organization
    • Proven track record of success working with senior leadership teams
    • Familiarity with multiple diversity and inclusion frameworks, such as Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), Cultural Transformation Tools (CTT), etc.
    • Formal training, certifications, or experience training others in topics related to DEI (some examples include: critical race theory, anti-racism, bystander intervention, IDI, CQ, unconscious bias, Certified Diversity Professional (CDP), etc. are desired but not required
    • Attitude and experience matter more than formal education to succeed in this role
    • Demonstrated results in increasing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
    • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously; prioritize and manage time effectively
    • Sound professional judgment and a high degree of trustworthiness in handling confidential and sensitive information
    • Critical thinker with strong problem-solving and research proficiencies
    • Experience working effectively in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments
    • A client-centric mindset and an ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization and across different business functions
    • Excellent communicator – ability to manage messaging and can comfortably present to leaders and diverse audiences at all levels
    • Up to 35% domestic travel
Additional Information:
The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, job-related education, skills, and experience, geographic location, and market conditions. The current salary range for this position is as follows and may be modified in the future: $142,700 - $223,300.
