MBRDNA is headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, with key areas of Autonomous Driving, Advanced Interaction Design, Digital User Experience, Machine Learning, Customer Research, and Open Innovation. In Farmington Hills, Michigan, the focus is on Powertrain and eDrive technology as well as in Long Beach, where the teams test durability of the latest driver assistant and telematic systems. The Digital Hub in Seattle focusses on developing a cloud architecture and building out the cloud platform for the next generation of connected car services. The Testing and Regulatory Affairs Division in Ann Arbor and the Advanced Vehicle Design in Carlsbad complete the competence center.

The scope of work is within Mercedes-Benz Cars as well as Mercedes-AMG for conventional, electrified and Hybrid powertrains in current development and Lifecycle-Management projects. Engine Control Module (ECM) and Central Powertrain Controller (CPC/CDCC)) for In-House Software Development, release testing, calibration, issue tracking and resolution. New feature specification, algorithm development, prototype validation, software release planning. Requirement specification for new and existing powertrain control software.

Job Responsibilities:

    • 1) Function ownership Be the contact person and owner of assigned software functions. Depending on project needs, the assigned functions can be one or any combination of following features: Focus on Thermal Management, potentially as well as Networking (CAN/FlexRay/LIN/Ethernet), Torque Monitoring, safety features, torque coordination, starter control, alternator control, trip display and engine start-stop.
    • 2) Release testing Align testing tasks with software release planning. Identify testing needs, define testing goals, create test cases, collect and analyze testing data, document testing results. Provide release recommendation to the management.
    • 3) Calibration Calibrate ECM and CPC control functions to meet requirements. In case no written requirements available, clarify with internal customers or use own engineering judgement. Identify and report function deficiency, follow up until it is completely resolved. Submit calibration changes and document the changes following the release process.
    • 4) Issue resolution Receive and own internal or customer reported issues. Decide and schedule testing environments (SiL HiL, Dynamometer, Vehicle) to reproduce the issue. Identify the root cause, propose algorithm and/or calibration fixes, validate and document the resolution. Request and plan SW releases for all affected vehicle platforms.
