Position Overview
We are hiring for an Intern to support the research and running of the Angsana Council. This can be a part-time role.

Founded in 2022, Angsana Council is a not for profit organisation with the mission of focusing the world’s attention on Southeast Asia through dialogues with entrepreneurs, policymakers, and change agents. The Council comprises members who themselves have a proven track record in accelerating economic and societal change in Southeast Asia. 

A cornerstone of the Council’s work is driving research and integrating insights from core stakeholders including business leaders, governments, technologists and thought leaders. The objective is to increase knowledge of the potential of the region for tech-enabled growth and development to a global audience and to foster discussions and action around realising this potential amongst regional change agents. 

The Council is sponsored by Monk’s Hill Ventures, a leading venture capital firm that invests in early-stage technology companies across Southeast Asia. The creation of this Council is an additional way for us to extend our commitment as a change agent to help Southeast Asian economies prosper from digital change.

You will have the opportunity of working with some of the best minds in the region and contribute to the development of forward looking points of view on key geopolitical and technology issues facing Southeast Asia, by supporting the production of a series of short form reports and other forms of content. You will be able to work on your own short form report, in a topic agreed upon with the Executive Director of the Council during your internship.

Key Responsibilities
• Support in the research and drafting of reports
• Draft and design content for the Council
• Contribute to generating ideas for the Council’s engagement and research objectives
• Support in the organisation of events and other activities
• Liaise with stakeholders to coordinate the Council’s activities
• Produce an original piece of short-form research (approx. 2000 words) for publication through the Angsana Council 

The ideal candidate would be someone who is
• Currently on a postgraduate programme in a related field such as international political economy, macroeconomics, public policy. Research interest covers Southeast Asia
• Proficient in the English language
• Keen to dig deeper into researching the region in the area of economic development and technology
• Comfortable with researching and handling both quantitative and qualitative data
• Able to draw coherent insights from disparate sources of information
• Willing to work on all sorts of assignments, including supporting the organisation of events and some administrative work
• Humble yet hungry. Communicates well and likes to be part of a team
• Living in Southeast Asia. This role can be remote or hybrid within Southeast Asia.
