About Munich Electrification
Munich Electrification is an innovative company founded with the aim of accelerating the transition to electric and connected mobility. We develop innovative electronic control units for electric vehicles and stationary storage systems for our global customers. Our international team is composed of highly motivated and exceptional engineers. As a small and specialized team we are well-aware of the importance of each individual colleague and support and promote each employee according to their abilities and needs. Our office with adjacent prototype and testing lab is located in the heart of Munich at the Heimeranplatz.
This is what we stand for:
- Technological Leadership: We challenge norms, innovate quickly, and anticipate future needs. We take smart risks and learn from outcomes to stay ahead.
- Sustainability: We actively drive change for a sustainable future, aware of our impact and inspiring others to build a better world.
- Team Culture: We believe work should be enjoyable, fostering a spirit of inspiration, celebration, and teamwork across the globe.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit: We embrace change, think big, and push limits with passion.
About the Role
We are offering a Master’s thesis opportunity within our Systems Engineering team, where technology meets real-world application. Our department plays a key role in developing next-generation Battery Management Systems (BMS) for both automotive and stationary energy storage systems (ESS). Beyond engineering design, we actively scout for emerging technologies, analyze market trends, and assess their impact on our system architecture and development strategies.
As a Master's student, you’ll dive into one of several forward-looking topics, helping shape innovative solutions that meet evolving customer and industry demands. This is your chance to contribute to impactful projects in a high-tech, interdisciplinary environment - while gaining valuable insights into how a Tier 1 supplier operates.
Potential Thesis Topics
We offer several exciting and strategically relevant thesis topics, including:
- Creating a Modern Communication Schema for Stationary ESS
Design a flexible, scalable communication standard tailored to the unique needs of stationary storage systems.
- Hardware Pre-charge Concepts for Dual-Pole Devices
Evaluate and compare hardware-based pre-charge strategies for systems with floating HV connections.
- Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) and Their Impact on Stationary BMS
Analyze SDV architectures and assess how concepts like centralized computing and over-the-air updates influence stationary applications.
- Thermal Monitoring via Infrared Thermography
Investigate non-contact temperature measurement to improve current sensor accuracy (see separate description if needed).
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) with SysML
Apply MBSE methods to structure system functions, interfaces, and traceability in complex energy systems.
We are open to tailoring topics to your academic focus and interests, and welcome your own ideas.
