Your role
As a Mechanical Engineering Team Lead, you will play a key role in our expert team of developers on battery management systems which are among the world-leading ones regarding safety, features and costs. You will lead and develop our mechanical engineering team, providing mentorship and guidance to all team members and continuous improvements of our design process. As part of the hardware development department, you will be involved in all aspects of the management of the mechanical design team and the development of the cycle for our mechanical and electromechanical components. The team you will lead is responsible for the concept development and CAD design of single components and sub-assemblies, and performs the calculations and simulations necessary to meet our specifications, as well as contributes to the development also by designing and building test setups and prototypes to validate concepts. 
You add to our existing product development expertise with your  experience in Design-for-manufacturing and design-for-cost in automotive or other high volume industries. 
With your proficiency in the fields of CAD Design, design analysis and simulation, engineering test and field reliability analysis, you will guide and develop the mechanical design team towards achieving excellence in product design, fostering collaboration, optimizing performance, and ensuring cost-effectiveness throughout the entire development process. Your innovative mindset will have a decisive influence on the technical concepts of our future products through your work. 

Your future tasks and responsibilities at a glance
Team Leadership:
• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, providing guidance, support and technical expertise to ensure successful project execution.

• Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment focused on continuous improvement and excellence in engineering practices.


Technical Expertise:
• Provide technical leadership in the design, analysis, and optimization of high current/high voltage devices and assemblies, with a strong emphasis on thermal management solutions.

• Utilize advanced simulation and modelling tools to predict and optimize mechanical and  thermal performance, ensuring reliability and safety under required operating conditions.


Product Development:
• Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from concept generation to production launch, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

• Drive the development of innovative electro-mechanical solutions, incorporating the latest advancements in materials, manufacturing processes, and design methodologies.

• Conduct design reviews and validation tests to verify performance, durability, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Provide continuous improvement of the mechanical development process and identify, manage and optimize the interface with other teams. 


Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering, software development and integration, to ensure seamless integration of our electro-mechanical components into the customer platforms.

• Communicate project status, technical challenges, and risk assessments effectively to stakeholders at all levels, including management, engineering teams and external partners.

What you bring with you

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.

    • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on automotive electro-mechanical components and thermal management systems.

    • Proven track record of successfully leading engineering teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

    • Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g. PTC Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA) and common simulation environments for FEA or thermal simulation.

    • In-depth knowledge of the automotive domain, including high voltage electrical systems, battery technology, and thermal management.

    • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a customer-focused mindset.

    • Creativity, curiosity and enthusiasm for innovative mechanical and electronics solutions and assemblies for electric vehicles

    • Preference for working in teams and excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely. (English fluency is a must; German is nice-to-have).
