Company Description
Nithio is a venture-backed finance and data analytics platform that uses AI and machine learning techniques to improve credit scoring capabilities for businesses, capital providers, governments, and other stakeholders in the distributed renewable energy sector across Africa. The company is currently in rapid growth mode and aims to address the acute need for universal clean energy access on the continent by providing a sustainable infrastructure for capital delivery and by offering state-of-the-art credit underwriting software.
 
 
Summary of Position

Responsibilities
This position will perform a range of duties including, but not limited to, the following:
      Business Development:
      Actively participate in meetings with potential partners and investors
      Setup and prepare meetings in advance, keep track and overview of BD pipeline
      Critically review existing BD materials and outreach, improving our catalog
      Investments:
      Prepare and review materials for potential investors
      Financial modeling to track our business plan and performance
      Setting-up and monitoring of investment data rooms to keep them up to date
      Pro-actively engage in the due diligence process with investors
      Research:
      Research into the space, stay up to date on market trends
      Find and suggest potential partners, and prepare materials for these
      Creative thinking on out-of-the-box opportunities
 
The Partnerships Intern will report to the Head of Capital Formation and Investor Relations.
 
Commitment
      Part-time commitment: 20-30 hours per week (will set specific expectations with selected candidate in consideration of their schedule)
      Internship will be remote, although if the intern is located near our hubs in Washington DC, NYC, Oxford, Lagos, Nairobi or Amsterdam, there will be opportunities to collaborate in-person
      Manager will be in CET time zone & hence the candidate will need to be able to work at least 75% of normal working hours in that time zone to be able to collaborate in real time.
      Term: flexible, 3 months to 6 months, starting in Q2 or Summer, with potential to extend after completion.
 
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
      Completed at least a Bachelor’s degree and is currently doing or finalizing a Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering or in a related field)
      Strong writing and research skills
      Excellent Microsoft Office suite skills (Excel, PowerPoint)
      Excitement about owning projects and thinking in creative ways
      Proactive as the team is geographically disbursed
      Highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated
      Demonstrated problem solving, judgment, and decision-making skills with the ability to articulate and present points of view and ideas effectively
      Experience prioritizing multiple, competing priorities with strong attention to detail and to advance discrete projects both independently and as part of a small team
      Having had previous internship(s) experience is considered a pré, notably in Investment Banking, Strategy Consulting, Corporate Development or R&D.
