Pick a challenge that is bigger than your lifetime.
New ideas are all around us, but only a few will change the world. That’s our focus at Nutcracker. We are an early-stage company looking at mRNA and its production in a completely different way. We are challenging the conventional and merging both innovative science with engineering to not just save lives, but to improve the manufacturing and delivery of critical health solutions. Yes, as our name implies, we are working to crack some of the toughest scientific and engineering nuts out there. If you are driven to discover, create, and inspire something that moves science and technology forward, and lasts a lifetime and beyond, you’re ready to be a Nutcracker.
We are looking for an individual to facilitate the development of Nutcracker’s mRNA platform. This individual will perform in vitro and in vivo assays to characterize novel mRNA designs and novel therapeutics concepts. The ideal candidate will bring scientific rigor, passion, and creativity to Nutcracker Therapeutics, and will be eager to grow in a multidisciplinary working environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform functional assays, including flow cytometry, ELISA, and Luminex, to probe the expression and efficacy of novel mRNA designs.
- Perform assays to track the levels of mRNA and delivery vehicles in the target tissues.
- Quantify the levels of in vivo editing by genotyping and bioanalytical assays.
- Generate and QC Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) libraries.
- Collaborate extensively across teams as needed and contribute to efforts to meet company goals, including ad hoc production campaigns.
- Properly document experimental notes, protocols, and results in a clear manner; prepare and present project progress on a regular basis.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in a relevant field or M.S. with 3+ years of industry experience. Job leveling will be based be experience and qualifications.
- 2-5 years of research experience in the field of RNA and/or NGS.
- A high scientific rigor: Executing the protocol faithfully, accepting only the high-quality results.
- Hands-on experience with some of the following techniques: Basic molecular biology techniques, cloning, qRT-PCR, TapeStation / LabChip / Fragment analyzer, IVT, Western blot, cell culture, flow cytometry, FACS, transfection, ELISA / fluorescence assays, Luminex, Incucyte, NGS.
- Proficiency with analytic tools such as FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, SnapGene.
- Understanding the CRISPR technologies or the principles of HTP (High throughput) screening is a plus.
- Well-organized with a clear and succinct communication style.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and to be versatile for changing research priorities.
