The Role
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, as our Financial Accountant you will be an integral part of a team of three finance professionals in Malta and work closely with the finance team in the UK. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing and coordinating general accounting functions and financial reporting of the Financial Institution.
Your day-to-day will involve:
- Assist the Senior Financial Accountant with the preparation of the monthly management accounts for various group entities.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and other schedules to the monthly management accounts.
- Post bank transactions and other journals into the accounting system.
- Process supplier bills in a timely manner.
- Assist with receivables collections by preparing reports and liaising with the relevant departments.
- Perform daily reconciliation of client funds.
- Assist with the preparation of MFSA, Central Bank and Tax reports in order to meet strict deadlines.
- Assist with documentation of internal processes and procedures.
- Liaise with the auditors during the annual financial audit and other audits.
- Draft of financial statements.
- Analyse data extracted from various systems to build reports, identify trends and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare adhoc reports to support the team and management’s decisions.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Fully or partly qualified (studying for an accountancy qualification)
- Minimum of two years experience working in a finance role within the financial services, crypto or gaming industries. Experience working in the digital assets sector will be considered as an advantage.
- Good knowledge of IFRS reporting, the Maltese Tax and VAT system
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Proficiency in quickly mastering and navigating diverse IT systems (accounting, data, operational, banking).
- Be fluent in written and spoken English.
- Positive attitude and willing to work with an international team in a fast-paced environment.
