Role Overview
We’re seeking a Head of Engineering to lead our engineering team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software while improving development velocity. This role involves strategic planning, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to align engineering efforts with our company goals. This leader will report directly to our co-founder/CEO.
As Head of Engineering, you’ll lead the entire engineering organization to represent engineering’s voice among our functional leadership. Your decisions will influence company strategy and enable us to meet our goals and drive to achieve our mission to revolutionize mental healthcare.
What You'll Do
- Technical Strategy and Execution for Product Development
- Lead engineering team and work with Product to determine the product roadmap of our EHR (electronic health record) product line and other life sciences data and network products, to translate that into the engineering execution plan
- Anticipate changes, challenges, and efficiencies to steer the organization on track and on time
- Healthcare is complex: you thrive off navigating such complexity, making difficult tradeoffs to improve development velocity and maintain high-quality standards
- Given our product is mission-critical for healthcare providers and their patients, you’ll ensure system uptime and meet targets for critical bugs
- Develop and implement plans to address technical, operational, and product debt while balancing business need
- You’re data-driven and can assess and enhance engineering processes to boost efficiency, leveraging engineering KPIs to help improve team performance
- Oversee information security and incident response
- Team Leadership and Development
- Mentor and inspire our high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of both excellence and collaboration
- Hire top talent to fill open roles and build a strong engineering culture to engage, motivate, and develop the team
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Build strong relationships with leaders in Product, Operations, Data Science, and more
- Actively contribute to company-level strategy
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience: 6+ years as a software engineer, 6+ years of management experience (reaching Director level)
- Experiences with Series B or earlier startups, ideally in the most recent role
- You've managed managers with a total team size of at least 15
- Proven experience with critical application architecture and modern AWS technologies
- Ability to manage complex applications with high uptime and stability requirements
- Track record of high-quality and high-velocity software delivery
- Experience in attracting, retaining, and developing top engineering talent and building a motivated engineering culture. Experience building and managing nearshore teams via both augmentation and agencies
- Strong communication skills with the ability to navigate complex tradeoffs and make difficult decisions
Preferred
- Healthcare IT experience, including HIPAA, healthcare-specific information security
- Mission-driven: passion for revolutionizing mental healthcare
- You've reported into a CEO / co-founder

$231,750 - $281,875 a year
Depending on experience and location
The reasonably estimated national salary range for this position is between 231,750 - 281,875, plus an equity package for eligible employees. Actual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and local cost of labor.
