We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead our engineering organization and oversee efforts to grow our suite of products. Team culture, leadership, goal and timeline planning, budget management, external partner integration, software development planning and internal/externalcommunication are integral to the daily duties associated with the role. We are looking for candidates with deep experience using a variety of programming languages and frameworks, exceptional leadership skills and a strong understanding of engineering trends.

A look at the role:

    • Supporting and coaching Engineering Managers in their efforts to manage team member professional development, career goal setting, and performance tracking 
    • Championing engineering excellence and personal development, which are core to our culture 
    • Mentoring software engineers of all skill levels in design principles, SDLC concepts, coding standards, quality assurance practices, and time management 
    • Implementing and championing best practices and process improvement 
    • Managing software development projects through requirements, goals and timeline planning 
    • Monitoring reliability and performance of all internal systems and making recommendations for improvement 
    • Preparing and managing Engineering departmental budget 
    • Collaborating with Engineering Managers to identify hiring needs across the Engineering org 
    • Managing internal/external stakeholder communication 
    • Strategizing, collaborating and planning for future project and product development 
    • Participating in department leadership meetings as well as company-wide management meetings 
    • Reporting on KPIs, decisions, goals, and progress of individual teams to upper management and external stakeholders 
    • Defining and championing team goals and OKRs  
    • Offers schedule flexibility, when needed, in order to achieve essential goals and deadlines 

We're looking for someone with:

    • Prior experience as a Director of Engineering or in a similar senior-level management engineering position 
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field (or equivalent experience) 
    • Extensive hands-on experience in back-end and front-end development 
    • Good understanding of Agile methodologies 
    • Team leadership and performance management experience 
    • Displays strong analytical, technical and problem-solving skills 

    • Familiar with:
    • Diverse database experience including MySql, NOSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Postgres, etc.
    • CI/CD technologies such as GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps 
    • Containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes  
    • Cloud computing technologies, such as Azure, GCP, AWS (Azure strongly preferred)
    • Application and web frameworks such as .NET Core & Framework, Phoenix, React/Next.js, and Ruby on Rails

    • Expertise with:
    • C# API
    • Desktop Development

    • Expertise with one or more of the following:
    • React (highly preferred)
    • JavaScript (highly preferred)
    • Elixir

    • WPF
