Who We Are Looking For: 
Phoenix Tailings is looking for a proactive and experienced Facilities Manager to oversee all aspects of facility operations at our Exeter production facility, Burlington pilot production facility, and Woburn R&D site. This role is critical in building facility management processes from scratch to support rapid growth, safe operations, and the deployment of first-of-their-kind metal production technologies. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments. 

Key Responsibilities

    • Develop, implement, and maintain procedures, and standards across all sites (Exeter, Burlington, Woburn).
    • Oversee facility operations, including utilities, building systems, maintenance programs, and contractor management 
    • Lead planning, coordination, and execution of facility upgrades, renovations, and expansions to support production and R&D needs 
    • Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and structural systems to ensure operational reliability 
    • Support safe operation of novel process technologies by ensuring facilities meet evolving engineering and production requirements 
    • Develop and manage facility budgets, service contracts, and procurement of maintenance supplies and equipment 
    • Identify opportunities for facility improvements to increase safety, efficiency, and sustainability 
    • Ensure compliance with all facility-related regulatory requirements, building codes, and standards 
    • Manage and coordinate facility permitting processes required for operations, expansions, and construction activities 
    • Partner closely with EH&S, engineering, and operations teams to integrate facility needs into company growth plans 
    • Serve as primary point of contact for facility issues, responding promptly to operational disruptions or emergencies 

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience 
    • 5+ years of facilities management experience in production, pilot plant, or R&D environments, preferably within manufacturing, mining, or chemical industries 
    • Proven experience building facility management processes from scratch in a scaling or startup environment 
    • Strong working knowledge of building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC), utilities, and facility maintenance best practices 
    • Demonstrated ability to manage contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders across multiple sites 
    • Experience managing facility permitting processes for construction, occupancy, or operational approvals 
    • Experience managing facility upgrades, expansions, or equipment installations supporting operational readiness 
    • Familiarity with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards 
    • Ability to travel regularly between Exeter, Burlington, and Woburn sites as operational needs require 

Exceptional project management skills, with experience managing complex, multidisciplinary initiatives. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
