Who we are looking for:
Phoenix Tailings is seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to play a leading role in the development, optimization, and scaling of our chemical processes. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in chemical process engineering, with a focus on high-temperature or electrochemical systems and be passionate about sustainability and clean energy production.
As a Senior Chemical Engineer, you will work on advancing the efficiency and sustainability of Phoenix Tailings’ metal refining processes, such as solvent extraction and molten salt electrolysis, while ensuring the safe and effective operation of production systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and optimize chemical processes: Lead efforts to design, optimize, and scale chemical processes for refining metals, including high-temperature systems and solvent extraction.
- Develop process models and simulations: Use advanced modeling and simulation tools to analyze and improve chemical processes, ensuring optimal efficiency and scalability.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams: Work closely with mechanical engineers and operations teams to integrate chemical processes into production systems and ensure smooth operations.
- Process testing and validation: Lead experiments and tests to validate new chemical processes, refine existing systems, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
- Develop technical documentation: Produce comprehensive documentation for chemical processes, including process flow diagrams, standard operating procedures, and safety protocols.
- Project management: Oversee chemical process-related projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
- Mentor junior engineers: Provide technical guidance and leadership to junior engineers, helping to foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in chemical process design and optimization, preferably in high-temperature or electrochemical processes.
- Strong knowledge of process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen, ChemCAD).
- Hands-on experience in scaling chemical processes from lab to industrial scale.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A passion for sustainability and clean energy technologies.
