About the Role
We move fast, believe in rapid iterations and true ownership to give our people the space to do what they do best. We are looking for someone who is excited about being part of a small team with other experienced engineers and playing a key role in executing against our product roadmap. As a member of the ROH team, you will have the opportunity to be based at our headquarters in New York City or work remotely.
We work primarily in Ruby on Rails, React, and TypeScript but are open to those with differing backgrounds. You should have a solid understanding of how to build software that goes beyond the ability to use these tools.
What You'll Do
- Consistently generate simple and elegant designs, and write high-quality code that can be easily understood and leveraged by others
- Meaningfully affect the bottom line by building new, and improving existing, features on our payments platform
- Frequently collaborate with your teammates on requirements, solution approaches/options and more broadly contribute to the technology stack and architecture that powers our entire business
- Actively participate in making the workplace an inclusive environment for people from all backgrounds
Who You Are
- Highly skilled with modern development technologies used to design, deliver, debug, and maintain front-end user interfaces and back-end software systems
- Enjoy being scrappy with an eye towards quality and scalability

- Have a point of view but are open-minded - excited to engage in thoughtful discussion and debate on technical and non-technical topics
- Value how users (both internal and external) interact and experience our software
What We Look For
- 5+ years of software engineering experience shipping production-quality code
- Experience building full-stack features (frontend and backend)
- Comfort with the current architecture - Ruby on Rails, and React JS hosted on Heroku
- Firm understanding of software design patterns and principles
- An ability to understand complex business problems and design high-quality technical solutions
- A humble team-player who places the needs of others first and participates in the development of peers on the team
- Ability to effectively convey ideas and thoughts in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbal, while also being receptive to feedback and open to new ideas
$150,000 - $185,000 a year
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary range for this position is between $150,000.00 -$185,000.00 annually. Salary placement will vary and factors such as prior experience and geographic location will be taken into consideration. Benefits such as health insurance, 401K, paid parental leave, generous company holidays and paid time off are also offered.
