REGENT is building the seaglider; the first electric flying machine that will transport commercial passengers. With a vehicle that never flies higher than a few meters off the water, we unlock the ability to fly twice as far as an electric aircraft, and certification by maritime authorities which will let us fly first passengers by mid-decade.

We are backed by the world’s best investors: the same investors who are behind SpaceX, Anduril, and Boom Supersonic, in addition to strategic investors like Lockheed Martin, Japan Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines. We have over $8B in orders from some of the industry’s largest operators and are hard at work getting our full-scale, human-carrying prototype on the water next year.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Test Instrumentation Engineer to manage databases, data storage, and network pipelines for test data collected with test instrumentation of our seagliders and drive significant progress in our testing schedule and work directly with instrumentation hardware and software to prove functionality. You will work closely with designers and builders of our full-scale prototype seaglider to develop the data toolchain and physical networks to conduct tests of the systems, subsystems, and full vehicle in preparation for foiling and flying.

The ideal candidate will have a background in standing up and managing physical and wireless networks and on-premises database systems and servers for large data sets as well as experience working directly with instrumentation hardware and software to prove functionality. Preferred candidates will also have experience with test instrumentation software or related time-critical, data-intensive software for complex interconnected systems, like aircraft, boats, robots, or rockets.

Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, systems engineers, hardware engineers, structural designers, electrical engineers, and test operations personnel, to define test instrumentation data requirements and specifications.
    • Develop network architectures for the test instrumentation systems that utilize existing commercial and internally-developed software tools, networking equipment, and wireless datalink networks.
    • Implement and manage on-premises or cloud storage for test data, including video and audio data.
    • Develop and follow best coding and configuration management practices.
    • Troubleshoot and debug software and hardware issues, providing timely resolutions to ensure optimal performance.
    • Work closely with avionics and test operations engineers to integrate networks and databases with test instrumentation hardware components.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
    • 2+ years in a post-graduate professional capacity with proven hands-on experience with databases, physical networks, and data storage.
    • Proficiency setting up and maintaining secure computer networks, routers, and other physical hardware.
    • Scripting experience in C++, Python, or Bash.
    • Configuration management (e.g. Git) and documentation (e.g. user guides, wikis) experience.
    • Experience with network performance monitoring (e.g. Wireshark).
    • Familiarity with data capture, reduction and analysis tools, such as LabView, python, or MATLAB.

Preferred:

    • Experience working on data process and flows for a vehicle, boat, airplane, or drone test campaign.
    • Multi-disciplinary engineering experience.
    • RTI Data Distribution Service (DDS), network bridging, tunneling, and routing (including multicast).
