Riptide Technology is hiring a Mid- Senior Software Developer for hybrid/onsite work in Suitland, Maryland

The Mid-Senior Software Developer supports Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) capabilities of the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) Nimitz Operational Intelligence Command (OIC).  The developer will participate in the development of web services and applications used by intelligence analysts to access and and manage maritime intelligence information. This role provides IT support services to ONI OIC to include software design and development, system/software testing and direct on-call support to analysts. The Mid-Senior Developer will work with the stakeholders and client to help keep existing applications running while designing and modernizing future capabilities.

The Junior Software Developer must have web frontend development and experience with JavaScript and Python.  The ability to read and understand legacy Java backend software and database interfaces is very desirable.

Further support includes the migration of MDA capabilities to the cloud, and the application of artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) tools to existing MDA data sets.

The Mid- Senior Software Developer must have web frontend development and experience with JavaScript and Python.  Experience with REST Web Services and service-oriented architecture is very desirable.

Responsibilities:

    • Design, develop, implement, and maintain web-based applications (front-end and server-side development).
    • Design, develop, implement, and maintain Web REST API endpoints.
    • Software applications include government off-the-shelf (GOTS), modified off-the-shelf (MOTS), and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) used on unclassified and classified ONI systems.
    • Development may include research, new development, modification, reuse, refactor, maintain, or any other activities that result in software products to meet the needs of specific client/business requirements of ONI.
    • Experience with Docker containers
    • Experience with GiT repositories and CM processes
    • Utilize Java coding skills to maintain and sustain current capabilities.
    • Develop and maintain source code in compliance with secure coding standards, application STIGS, and all applicable government regulations, guidance, and directions.
    • Monitoring the technical performance of internal systems.
    • Gathering information from consumers about program functionality.
    • Conducting development tests and coordinating with functional testers.

Required Education and Certifications:

    • BS in Computer Science (Preferred)
    • Security+ can be completed in first 90 days
    • DoD IAT Level II Certification - Level two certifications typically require one of these additional certifications as prerequisites:
    • CCNA Security, or Cisco Certified Network Associate certification OR
    • CySA+ **, or Cybersecurity Analyst Plus certification OR
    • GICSP, or Global Industrial Cybersecurity Professional OR
    • GSEC, or Global Information Security Essentials Certification OR
    • Security+ CE, or Security Plus Continuing Education OR
    • CND, or Certified Network Defender OR
    • SSCP, or Systems Security Certified Professional OR one of the preceding

Required Qualifications:

    • Security Clearance: Active DoD - Top Secret SCI
    • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience web frontend development
    • Must have experience with JavaScript and Python 
    • Background in DoD software development preferred.
    • Experience with Docker containers and REST APIs required.
    • Experience with Scrum project management methodology.
    • The Mid- Senior Software Developer must have web frontend development and experience with JavaScript and Python.  Experience with REST Web Services and service-oriented architecture is very desirable.
    • Core Business hours 9:00 - 3:00 with flexibility.
    • Hybrid work is onsite (in Suitland, MD) a minimum of 2 times a week.

Working Conditions:

    • Working Conditions
    • Contractor site with 0%-10% travel possible. Possible off-hours work to support releases and outages. General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

    • Sedentary – 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small articles. Some occasional walking or standing may be required. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

$150,000 - $175,000 a year
